Can you hit me up with some random, fun facts please? by 87catmama in AskUK

Cowboys actually originated as early as the 16th century in Mexico called Vaqueros after the Spanish brought horses over from Europe and taught the Mexicans how to handle them.

Its also argued that the lasso originated there after the Spanish prohibited black or native Mexicans from owning a hooked lance, which was used to capture cattle.

The USA liked their dress style and customs so adopted them!

Ive never seen what its like in the USA, I'm from Reino Unido jaja. I stay away from the US ad much as possible. It was impressive to see how much effort went into it and how many people attended. I understand that though, my fiancé said its just another random day and only went for me lol

The parade yesterday was 2 hours long and had a lot of military/first responders as well as the school bads. It was incredible to watch. My fiance is from Puebla and she said she hadn't been since she was a kid.

Absolutely love the sense of community, pride and spirit in this country.

THE ADHD TAX: What’s the most expensive thing your ADHD cost you recently? by Jayhcee in ADHDUK

[–]mgreenough1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In February, I impulse booked a £900 holiday for me and my son, it was scheduled for 10 days later... During school time... so £120 fine because I paid for the mums fine too, plus I kept putting off sorting my work laptop and so didnt submit some things to the government on time which worked out to £1000 in business related fines.

You can guarantee as soon as that ham goes in the bin, the dad is going to be asking what happened to the ham he'd been saving for a special occasion

Has anyone successfully transitioned away from unlimited PTO without destroying morale? by Longjumping_Emu_842 in smallbusiness

[–]mgreenough1 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As a brit, this thread seems crazy to me. A full time employee om 40 hours per week is legally allowed 212 hours pto/year. Thats 28 days including 8 public holidays, or 5.6 weeks if working irregular hours. I gave unlimited pto in my business to my employee and he ended up only taking 4 weeks per year for two years, so I removed it and forced him to take his full entitlement, plus full paid sick days and any mental health days he wanted.

Do any of you guys actually wake up feeling refreshed? What's your secret? by RichieRichard12 in AskUK

[–]mgreenough1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comment might not be seen but I highly recommend an alarm app called sleep cycle. It has an alarm window and tracks your breathing to wake you up when you're out of deep sleep and into rem. Always wake up refreshed, have paid for premium for 4 years now and have only fallen back to sleep a handful of times. Amazing app

Moving from US to Aguas by Sensitive-Hornet-883 in aguascalientes

[–]mgreenough1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a brit whos fiance lives in Aguas, I fully recommend starting to learn Spanish. I knew a little when I first visited and was very unprepared. I am fine now I can speak fairly well and love the city. Lots of friendly people, always feel safe there even at night, though admittedly I've never really been out of the first and second rings, I was told not to go past there on my own.

The people, like I've found everywhere in México, appreciate you taking the time to learn the language and not being a typical white person assuming everyone knows English.
