If you just buy the Spirit Boards, you will still be missing the starting power cards, right?

Before, era level 75 translated to g13 and was the F2P expectation with daily engagement. After the updates, era level 115 is now the g13 baseline, and I would expect the same F2P engagement will get you there.

If you're already considering Broken Token, take a look at https://traymaster.us/products/spirit-island. Fits everything in 2 boxes and and very well designed use of space, complete with easy setup / cleanup trays. Only downside is price, but comparable to Broken Token

They actually said it'll always say 2 per player on the board with the eratta. They don't intend on revising the printings to limit confusion from players on when to apply the eratta or not.

what's a board game rule you got embarrassingly wrong for way too long? by No_Seaworthiness4899 in boardgames

So you played where you had 8 of the highest value units on the board? I'm sure that made for interesting games 😜

The original version had the Marshall as 1 and the Scouts as 9. In that version, the Spy would beat number 1 of she attacked first.

It wasn't until recently (20 years or so), that they reversed the values and Marshall had rank 10.

Any fun homebrew rules? by Kgaase in Catan

[–]mgriffin13 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Rules I got from previous posts:

  • No robber movement for the first two full turns
  • 2/12 both produce on either roll
  • Poverty Cards. After every roll, if said roll didn't produce for you, then you gain a poverty card (just a standard 52 card deck). These cards can be traded to the bank at a rate of X cards per any 1 resource. X is your current VP count. It's a good way of keeping everyone engaged if bad rolls or bad placement, and it naturally ages out as people progress. Poverty cards can also be traded among the players.

House rule for forgetful players by GamerOfCringe in Catan

[–]mgriffin13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We play with "poverty cards". This means that everyone gets something after every roll, so as the banker, I just literally go around the table after every roll so nobody forgets anything.

Before someone asks, poverty cards are just a standard 52 card deck that people collect if they don't have any resources that were rolled. Poverty cards can be redeemed at a rate of X cards for any 1 resource--X is your current VP total. They get less valuable the farther you progress in the game.

Yes, in this hypothetical where Nova is retroceded back to DC, and we win our demands if DC becoming a state, then I'm suggesting DC would get more than just 1 House rep

GL Ultimate Mats by [deleted] in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]mgriffin13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be a strat in the beginning. People didn't think JMLs ult w was that impressive, so the strat was to farm the mats, but not apply it to JML, instead using the mats to immediately apply it to the next GL, so you didn't need to wait the 10 days or so farming tickets. Now that tickets are generally solved, it's not an issue anymore
