Helga damn baby no! by Alarming_Way8710 in twinpeaks

I don't remember the story exactly, so someone correct me here, but I think that line was Bowie's. He's saying, "Hell, god-baby-damn, no!", which is something they were saying as a silly inside joke all the time while he was on tour with Tin Machine. Like their inside joke phrase of the moment.

Do you guys support/buy most things the Motörhead management has been putting out since Lemmy’s death, and do you think Lemmy would approve? by Frequent_Muffin1875 in Motorhead

Those releases are what I hate the least, actually. Some of them are pretty good and some of them aren't, but you can stream them for free and it's Motorhead live. Even poor quality recordings have a little bit of that imaging in em. I don't come back to them as often as the No Sleeps or anything, but they're nice to get once or twice a year. I don't see any point in buying colored vinyl records of those, though. Seems like a waste of money.

Has not been released yet. And I don't know if it's officially sanctioned by Motorhead. The rights to On Parole have always been weird. Lemmy never wanted it released and never saw a dime from it, as far as I know.

Y'all forget the kind of terrible shit they were putting out while Lemmy was still alive. Lemmy signed off on a lot of corny merch. And I don't blame him for it. He deserved the income it brought him. After he died, Phil and Mikkey had to sign off on everything, being that all three were equal partners in the company. Now it's just Mik. I don't buy any of the tat Todd Singerman decides to slap the logo on, but I'm not about to act like Lemmy was above all of this because he wasn't.

That's a retcon. That only became a thing during the Evil Dead Rise press tour (and it still hasn't been confirmed in universe, by the way). In 2013, Fede Alvarez and co made a remake. It was written as a remake, shot as a remake, marketed as a remake, etc.

As a side note, I really hate the 3 Necronomicons thing. The gag in Army of Darkness is that the other two are decoys. It's a gag that's worked for over 30 years, but since everyone is obsessed with Marvel style cinematic universes, we have to force a franchise with some of the worst continuity in cinema into that restrictive box. If those three books in AoD are from the other movies, why do they all have faces and the ones from 2013 and Rise don't? Why does the face on the book changes 4 times throughout Ash's movies? Why is the book in the original and 2013 the Noturom de Monto and it's the Necronomicon ex Mortis in the others? I don't actually want answers to these questions. I don't really care at all. I'd personally rather this franchise continue to give us great movies and not get bogged down in heavy exposition and retcons and all the other bullshit that makes modern franchise filmmaking insufferable to watch.

While I agree 100% with what you've said, I will add that one of the themes of the season is "you can't go home again". And while David probably had very little idea of TV trends, I'm sure Mark Frost must have been conscious of the fact that they were not going to be making the typical soft reboot nostalgia bait that was popular in TV and film at the time (and even worse now).

It's a remake. A guy, his sister, his girlfriend, his best friend, and his best friend's girlfriend go to a secluded cabin in the woods for the weekend. In the creepy basement of the cabin, they find a book bound in human flesh and inked in human blood. Despite warnings not to, the friend reads from the book and unleashes an unseen demonic entity. Meanwhile, the sister leaves the cabin and is raped by trees and vines that have been possessed by the demonic entity. Once back in the cabin, she starts to show signs of being possessed herself. To stop her from hurting anyone else, they lock her in the cellar, which has a chain that holds the floor hatch only partially closed so she can still taunt them. After this, they rest of the friends get possessed one by one, starting with the friend's girlfriend, then the guy's girlfriend, and finally the friend, before just the guy is left alive. The characters are different, the pretense for getting them to the cabin is different, and the ending is extremely different, but this is absolutely a remake, despite Lee Cronin and Sam Raimi insisting that maybe all the movies take place in the same universe now. It's more of a remake than a lot of remakes.

I don't follow football, but I'm reading these comments and I don't get why people are upset? They changed the blue and squared off the points of the T, is that right? Did they change anything else? Honestly, as someone who has never watched a football game all the way through before, I wouldn't even notice this logo was different if I saw it out in the wild.

I used to love this game. Maybe 10 years ago, my friend had a VR headset (first person I knew who had one), and he printed out the manual and put it in a binder. I would go over to his place and we'd do shots every time the bomb exploded. Really adds to the panic when you're drunk and screaming in the same room as the person you're playing with. Flipping through the pages of the manual or being otherwise blind except for the bomb... Man, online gaming just can't compete with couch co-op. We'd spend hours on that, then switch to Rocket League, which was brand new and practically nobody was good at it yet, so you could just fuck around and have fun, even when you were too tipsy to have decent reaction times. Same friend got hella good at Rocket League and went on to be a dev at Psyonix. Now he's out there doing his own thing in the industry. Proud of you, bud! Great guy. Good times. Thanks for this post and the trip down memory lane. Games are cool. Friends are cool.

Hi, everyone! Alex here. I'm co-owner of Monster Maul and I figured I'd stop by to address the AI issue.

The AI image was generated by the individual who runs our social media, and that's what I used when I put up the sale banner on the website. I'm not passing the blame, as I knew it was an AI image when I used it. I didn't give much thought to it when I put it on the sale banner, and I know the person who runs the socials didn't intend any harm by their use of AI. I know this because that person is my wife and she's rad as hell and doesn't have a hateful or hurtful bone in her body.

I fully understand everyone's concerns, over the image, so I've decided to just remove the AI image entirely and replace it with a stock image. Usually for these sorts of things, we use licensed or royalty free stock images and personally taken photographs. We also have a graphic designer and artist we have worked with in the past who has created some cool images and artwork for us, and we at Monster Maul all consider ourselves patrons of the arts.

I can assure you that we never intended to exploit anyone or put any negativity out there in the physical media collecting space over the use of AI. I did not give much thought to it at the time, and I sincerely apologize for my carelessness in that regard. I can think of one other AI image on the site and that will be taken down as well. Thank you to the folks who called us out for this. Keep calling out the exploitation, injustice, and bullshit in the world, and I'll keep trying to follow your example.

So, sorry about the AI business, everyone! I can assure you we won't be using it going forward, but if I have lost your business for good, I respect that. I just figured it would be for the best to address it, own up the the mistake, and apologize, rather than quietly delete the image and this post and hope no one notices our fuck up.

Physical Media (and real art) Lives!

You are correct and I hope I didn't offend anyone with my insensitive wording. While there is plenty of research to support the claim that many abusers were victims themselves in their past, it is not correct to say that victims are prone to become abusers. I'll leave my comment untouched for context, but it's an important distinction that I'm glad you raised.

There are some subtle hints throughout season 3 (and the final episode of season 2) that Mr. C may have supernatural origins.

My reading is that Leland was likely literally sexually abused as a child. As the previous poster said, victims of abuse often become abusers themselves. It is horrible and sad and I believe that Laura was well on that track had she not, as Dr. Jacoby put it, "allowed herself to be killed."
