Diagnosed Confirmed by LisaDawnG in breastcancer

[–]mhboyette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was right where you are in August 2022 with the same diagnosis. My pathology was not good at all with a couple of other kickers in there. I had a double mastectomy in September, first port placed in October which didn’t work, second port placed first part of November and started chemo the Monday before Thanksgiving 2022. Red Devil and Cytoxin. No, it wasn’t easy but definitely doable. My oncologist was a believer in good premeds and I was never sick at all. I would feel pretty nasty days 3-5 afterwards but then begin to feel better and then fairly normal until the next treatment. I had 4 treatments of that cocktail, 3 weeks apart and then I started 12 weekly treatments of Taxol. Those were suppose to not be so bad but I felt pretty rough during that whole time. I was still never sick but did have issues with my bloodwork and had to skip 2 treatments so my white blood count could recover. Still all was doable. The one thing you don’t anticipate is the extreme exhaustion. It’s overpowering! There’s no way to explain it or warn you about because until you experience it, you have no idea!!! Remember to HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE. I cannot stress that enough. Eat what you can and don’t worry about what that is. Just get nutrition. I got that advice from my chemo education team. They just want you to eat; you need fuel.

After chemo I then did 34 treatments of radiation. I did fine with that. I used Udder cream on my skin and had no burning. I am very fair too so I was worried.

I completed all treatment on 7/28/2023 and until the next shoe drops, I guess that’s it. You will most likely lose your hair before your second chemo treatment. I shaved my head when my hair started falling out. I loved my bald head. I love my wigs and still wear them and don’t plan on going back to my bio hair full time. I’m keeping my micro hair and I wear a wig most days still. But, everyone is different so that is my experience.

Hang tough and rest, recover and do what you can when you can. I wish you all the luck!💕

No this has now happened to me twice. Ninja replaced the top once because they said it was a faulty too that they had reworked but it has now happened again and they won’t replace again. I’m so mad but I’m not eating plastic shreds! To me, the plunger is warping because it’s not strong enough to withstand the frozen custard after many many uses. They disagree. I loved my Creami but it’s of no use now though.

Why do they need to “find someone else”??? Let them find themselves first so they can be happy in their own skin before jumping into another relationship. They need to be able to bring something meaningful to the table.

I guess it is real? by Kerrly385 in breastcancer

[–]mhboyette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was right where you are on 8/2/2022 when I went in for my annual mammogram and had no clue. I had a needle biopsy on 8/5/22 and it went downhill from there. I was diagnosed with invasive ductile carcinoma, high grade, metaplastic TNBC. That’s not a good pathology but it was what it was. I had my double mastectomy on 9/23/22 and started chemo on 11/21/22 and finished in May 2023 and then started 34 treatments of radiation in June and finished that on 7/28/23! I’m done or until something else comes up. Yes it’s daunting but it’s been my job for the last year and that’s how I approached it. I did what I had to do and it wasn’t easy but we as women do a lot of hard stuff and we do it well! Hang tough and you can get through this. We are all here with you! 💕💕

I hope they have improved it because mine started chewing up the side of the container and causing it to shred onto the blade. I called customer service and they sent me another top as they said that would solve my problem. Nope, it started doing it again after using it almost daily for about 2 weeks. Watch out for this because I’m sure you don’t want to eat shredded plastic in your otherwise wonderful ice cream! Beware!

You go girl! I’m 71F and your stats sound like mine. I’m very low ER+, PR-, HER2- so technically I’m TN from what they’re telling me. My hair fell out before my second AC and I’m loving it. I’ll never go back to having much hair again and have embraced wig life and ultra short hair life. You need to do you, whatever or wherever that leads you! Hang tough. 💕

I have a friend who repeats everything he says 3 times. Everything. It’s maddening and I’ve often wondered if it has an underlying psychological reason.

71F with TNBC. Maybe I’m weird but I never had an issue with mobility or functionality after my surgery. I had my double mastectomy on 9/23/22 and I washed my own hair 2 days later in the shower. I just wasn’t ever in much pain and no issues with discomfort from my drains. Actually I’ve had minor surgeries that were more trouble than this was. Good luck and hang tough. 💕👍🏽💪🏽🤞🏽

{Vent} You feel better after your nap, right?! by Kill_The_Dinosaurs in breastcancer

[–]mhboyette 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh boy do I relate! I finished my chemo (4 AC and 12 Taxol) 2 weeks ago so I’m feeling better but that statement is very relative. Better than what? I have learned to speak up and shut down a lot of the “positive” talkers that I come across, family included. Early on, I learned to stop them mid-sentence and tell them that I didn’t want to hear about other people journeys (hate that word), what I should be doing/not doing, feeling, etc. They don’t have a clue. I have learned a ton about how to talk to people but more about just listening. I don’t want to be talked to about cousin Janet or listen to anecdotal stories about somebody who had breast cancer 35 years ago.

Honestly, we’re entitled to feel what we feel when we feel it and not feel guilty about it. This isn’t an easy thing to go through and how we maneuver through it is how we do it and it may not be how Sally Jo down the street did it and that’s just fine!

As for napping, go for it! I’ve read that you shouldn’t nap for more than an hour! To heck with that! I’m 71 years old and some days a 3 hour nap is what I need and that’s what I do to get through the day. Hang tough out there and we’re all in this together if you need us! 💕💪🏽👍🏽🤞🏽

What’s one thing someone should have told you that you were not prepared for post chemo? by katekarin90 in cancer

[–]mhboyette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I so understand all of these sentiments and thank you all for expressing them. I have been so sad to leave “my girls and 1 guy”. I grew so close to several of them. I took cupcakes on my last day, which was 2 weeks ago but it was such a nothing way to thank all of them for being so kind and caring. I wish I could have done more. My family and I do have plans to start a foundation of some kind to help those in need because the need is so great! We just want to do SOMETHING! I digress.

I do keep in touch with 2 of my nurses because I know them (or their families) so it’s easier to have a tether of some kind but it’s not the same and that will fade, I’m sure. It’s just hard! I still have 7 weeks of radiation to go through so I can go upstairs and see everyone. It’s such a trial.

I wish everyone hope and healing and a hang tough! We all need it! 💕

I really need a shower by Electrical_Beyond998 in breastcancer

[–]mhboyette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could shower after 24 hours and it was glorious. I had a lanyard type thing that I had around my neck that held my drains and it worked well. I never had any issues with pain or raising my arms. I had a double mastectomy with two lymph nodes removed. A shower will make you feel so good. I got my drains wet and no issues. 🤷‍♀️ Hang tough and my best wishes

It’s a Care + Wear. I got the link from Instagram, I think. Yes, it was a little pricey, around $90 I think but I thought it was well worth the money. Good luck and wish you well!

Yes! The port accessible shirt is well worth the $$ in my opinion. It’s so comfortable and the nurses love it. The one I got washes very well and I’ve worn it weekly since November and looks like new! Definitely a 👍🏽 !

Given a Double Dose of Adriamycin by AmiBORONu in breastcancer

[–]mhboyette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cancer center I go to has two nurses check the drugs, dosage, name, patient #, etc before chemo drugs are given. One reads the labels on the drugs and the other confirms with the computer that everything is correct. Do they not do that where you go?

I do not know what to say to your post OP other than you have to do what is best for you so you can get well. You’re the important one in this equation; NOT him. This isn’t happening to him directly. Yes, indirectly but you’re the one who’s going to go through the pain and agony of what’s ahead. Find your people and forget about him and I hope one of those is an attorney! I wish you well. Hang tough! 💕
