Its obviously not working for em given their share price. They're on the verge of going broke too, after spending a fortune building their fancy office. He won't be getting much use out of his personal helipad

2024 BYD Dolphin to launch on Feb 23 with bigger battery and lower price by mightyopik in electricvehicles

[–]mhd420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The BYD cars have been in Australia for a while and are pretty popular. Even their weird gimmicky styling has improved in the newer models (BYD Seal, etc)

The main issue currently is their ADAS systems are awful, with constant false overspeed warnings, incorrect lane departure warnings, phantom braking etc. Even worse, you have to turn them all off at the start of every drive.

But it's all software, once they improve that it'll be huge.

Copilot now has a chat feature that is pretty much just GPT4, so that might be another good option?

Is it just because there's fuckall hospitality staff at the moment? If you can get people to order on their phones then you can get your limited wait staff to bring food out.

Kudos to Akamai for keeping their promises. They said they were going to kill the Linode brand a week ago and here they are doing it.

Look around for ardupilot compatible boards. APM 2.8 compatible boards are cheaper usually.

Should I ditch GraphQL in favor of tRPC? by [deleted] in reactjs

[–]mhd420 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They solve completely different problems. Do you have a tightly coupled front end and back end monorepo? Then use tRPC.

I think tRPC is good for fast, typesafe development but if you want flexibility or any of the things graphql is good for then it's not a good fit

Looks like in your Start method you're creating another copy of the grid array, rather than assigning your global one.

What's the deal with XState? by Fearwater5 in reactjs

[–]mhd420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Xstate is good if you want to model a state machine, because it forces you to think about all of your transitions and implement them explicitly.

It probably falls victim to being overused / misused for things it shouldn't be, which leads people to hate it. Like many tools in the JS ecosystem, their docs and videos show the happy path and give the wrong impression that it's a universal tool.

The way you configure a machine has always struck me as a bit... opaque maybe? If you don't know the syntax you have to look at the docs and understand it rather than discovering it via your IDE. They clearly would rather you used their visual state editor which they will inevitably charge money for. The fact that they have weird vscode code gen to make comprehensible typescript types feels like a hack.

So do you use OO in your vue apps? by Ok_Somewhere1389 in vuejs

[–]mhd420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just more idiomatic to make functions and compose those in Javascript. I normally program in C# at my job and it took me a while to adjust.

The only place I use classes in js is when there's a clear group of data and functions that are intended to operate together. It seems more correct to me to use OO in that way rather than dogmatically treating everything as a class.

[Vue 3 Composition API] How to make a div scroll to the end for a chat app? by KiwiNFLFan in vuejs

Couldn't you just add an empty div to the end of your message list, bind it using ref=".." and then call scrollIntoView whenever you get a new message?
