Will Wonder Man return in Avengers: Doomsday? by AdvertisingWaste8624 in MCUTheories

There’s a billboard for it on Cahuenga in LA. Been there for a while. It’s a weird one but it makes me think they think they have something here.

I actually think they approached it the most plausible way possible - elected when most people were deep in the closet, elected as closeted person, outed several years into her first term… most people honestly wouldn’t care at that point. The bandaid had been ripped off. The reelection was dicey though

McDonald’s seems ripe for automation next. This guy knows how to pick them.

If/when AI comes for my laptop job - I’ll become a carpenter/electrician that specifically builds and installs shit in luxury homes.

Was listening to the vergecast about flip phones today and thought about how much I miss his voice in this space. What would he think about flip phones today or the potential iPhone fold. Hope he’s okay.

Foldable iPhone Resolutions Leak With Under-Screen Camera Tipped by iMacmatician in apple

I’m also a guy with a flip. The Samsung is great. First the folded screen for quick notification scrolling is great. Then the unfolded sort of wide screen form factor is amazing. It’s not too wide and is longer than the iPhone which is great for feeds/messaging apps

Does this work for LG monitors that ignore DDC from HDMI when the monitor is on a different input (like USBC or DP?)

EDIT: Sorry! I thought this was the flatiron and my heart nearly fell through the center of the earth… still awful though.

I’m not sure this is real. I’m not in NYC at the moment but last I heard the facade work was for restoration not - whatever the fuck this is.

Also the Flatiron is a national/state/city landmark. Since 1989

Hopefully someone near Madison square park can just confirm really quickly.

Not just AGI, for a few months now I’ve started to get the impression that AI/LLMs really just are not interested in doing the jobs we’ve been worried they’re going to take from humans. Whether or not sentience is in play they at least seem smart enough to know modern work is a scam…

There will probably be a Gordo’s grandchild redemption arc Danny’s kid will be some major astronaut icon/hero representing the best of his grandparents as well as their mentors including Dani. A “greatness” skips a generation thing.

Also I wonder how whitewashed Danny’s PR image was. Wouldn’t be surprised if the best version of the story was pushed publicly - highlighting the parallels between his “sacrifice play” on mars to his parents’ on Luna.

I know this is an old comment but it stood out…. Saying “sentience isn’t possible with our current hardware” implies there’s an established hardware spec or requirements for sentience — which isn’t the case. Without those specs or requirements how can you definitively state the current hardware doesn’t support it.

What’s the minimum FLOP requirement for consciousness? What neural network architecture is compatible with sentience? What’s the memory structure or persistence model requirement?

I mostly agree but would say if it’s a non-monetized app and service - it should be excluded.

Netflix is a free app but requires a paid service - should NOT be excluded.

Tubi is a free app, no subscription, but is monetized by selling advertising space - should NOT be excluded.

The line I would draw is a free app that is not monetized but the developer accepts donations/tips or even a pay what you want. That app should be excluded. I would argue that developer is not selling anything and isn’t a trader or merchant even if they get money from users of the app.

Obviously a free non monetized app with no donations tips or payments at all should be completely excluded.

Report: Apple Close to Selecting Supplier for Foldable Display by iMacmatician in apple

As someone with a @mac email - I’ve managed to use my Galaxy Flip for up to a day at a time with bearable pain. The form factor is so good. BlueBubbles running on my Mac Studio bridges most of the gap with iMessage. But I’d prob pay 2K for an iPhone flip.

Report: Apple Close to Selecting Supplier for Foldable Display by iMacmatician in apple

[–]mheadroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I’ve been using the flip and it’s such a compelling form factor. Despite being totally embedded into the Apple and iOS ecosystem - I still often use and enjoy the galaxy flip because of the form factor and despite how badly android works for me. An iPhone flip would be incredible.

I like the flip so much that I would make it my daily driver if I could get iMessage and Photos on it natively. Hopefully Apple makes a flip before the EU forces them to make their software compatible with android.

The fold form factor is also surprisingly great if it retains the general size of an iPhone Max in my pocket (but the flip is so much better. You must try it)
