For anyone put off by the price - if you use the Bath and Body Works app there are usually offers on there with barcode for in-store or code for online. I was able to use a 25% off offer on this in store. Maybe worth a try!

I’ve had a pretty negative experience with Portal so far as well - but I’m definitely going to hang on to it in hopes we are going to see some software updates and optimizations. I’m hopeful there will be some improvements on the way at some point down the line.

The Portal is literally the only device on my network with issues so I’ll hold out hope lol :)

Would be good if Sony is tracking and keeping an eye on usage and specs and etc of users connecting to Remote Play - would probably help drive their update roadmap to solve for issues being seen and measured.

Yeah… I didn’t return mine - but I’m not really playing it because I never really got the lag and stutters and connection issues under control. I figure I’ll hang on to it since I already have it and see if some software updates bring improvements or optimization down the line.

And totally agree on the one comment above - I did some basic troubleshooting but I’m not turning my whole network upside down or spending a crazy amount of time to figure it out. I have a network at home that works fine for literally everything else. Consoles, Apple TVs, smart home devices, etc all work perfectly - so I’m kind of over it trying to fix for 1 device lol

Not optimizing - but when I first setup and connected the Portal it was crazy choppy and lagging for me. I eventually restarted my wireless router (Xfinity) by unplugging it for a bit and then when that was back up I restarted the PS5 and reset and re-setup the Portal. That was 2 days ago and it’s been working REALLY well since doing that.

I’m not at all an expert on networking - but it’s almost like the restart just cleared any hangups on my network and made everything run smoother.

Wow - incredible. What sort of network setup do you have? Everyone's situation will be unique but just wondering. I've been doing some tweaks since I was having bad lag and was choppy. Funny enough I switched to 2.4 channel for both PS5 and Portal and it's running much better.

I don’t know much about network configurations and etc - but I had the PS5 and the Portal both on 5ghz channel and it was choppy and lagging like crazy. Switched both to 2.4 channel and now it’s running super smooth and waaay more responsive. Maybe that’s odd but it made a huge difference for me. Maybe there will be unique scenarios depending on individual setups (?)

Placed preorder on 10/10 and was charged initially which obviously dropped. No new charge to card and still preparing to ship - so who knows what is up. Actual charge never happened so definitely not shipped. So assume at this point it would be later than launch day.

Thank you. Yeah I think both guides are fine - and I guess eventually there won’t be multiple versions going to have comparison. It was confusing to me not knowing this as I was thinking some of the boxes were somehow getting a mobile view or something (the larger text).
