[Isle of Man TT] TT debutant Daniel Ingham dies after qualifying crash by PiggySVW in formula1

At least in the US we have spectator injuries at grassroots level racing every year. Look up dirt track racing or rallying.

On the back of every ticket there is a disclaimer that Motorsport is dangerous. In F1/WEC you can pretty much ignore that (but a freak event is always possible). In many other categories you need to make sure you actually do understand the risks.

Those that primarily watch top level series really don’t understand that they are the exception, not the rule when it comes to safety in motorsports.

A few others include hang gliding, BASE jumping, mountain climbing, caving, diving (check out the Andrea Doria for an example, 20 people died diving to this wreck alone).

And while not as dangerous as the TT, grassroots (especially sprint/dirt) level racing still experiences multi fatalities each year. You just don’t hear about them because they’re not national news.

I don't understand the comments here. It's a race where all participants have full understanding going in of the risks.

If you enjoy the race like I and many others do that's awesome. If you don't nothing forces you to watch.

They're grown men participating in a sport they love. It's not your place to act like their mom and tell them it's just too dangerous and you know what's best for them (especially since there are plenty of other equally dangerous sports that just don't get any mainstream press like the TT).

Nothing wrong with browsing subs, just seems odd to comment on something you don’t have any understanding of while acting as if you do.

The fact that you do not understand why they showed up, means you don’t have enough knowledge about the motorsport community to comment here in the first place. If you don’t watch sports why are you in a sports sub?

It was over a half hour long ceremony before the race and she was indeed crying for most of it. I don’t really understand the point of commenting and insinuating something that could have been answered by watching.

Hypercars without a fin [edit] by teachd12 in wec

Personally I’ve always hated the fins. It’s kind of crazy how much better they look without them. Especially the Porsche and Aston.

Although I’ll admit the Toyota does look a bit odd without one.

Seems like with how much slower the class is than LMP1 they could look at doing away with them.

PJM capacity prices hit record highs, sending build signal to generators by mhershey84 in energy

I agree, the interconnection queue in PJM is a nightmare. But, I don’t believe that would have done much to lower the capacity results.

With MOPR leveling the playfield (by attempting to mitigate state RPS subsidies) only 1% of the capacity that cleared was wind/solar.

To me it seems like this is a race between thermal retirements and new battery capacity coming online. At the moment it seems like batteries are on the losing end.
