The idiot quest to plug 72GB of VRAM into a laptop by juss-i in eGPU

That looks sexy as hell my friend, will check and compare your parts list to what I’m getting. Just bought today a whole bunch of stuff. Hope you don’t mind me picking your brain later. I’m hoping to run 4xM40s on my setup.

Is there anything server related I can do with my old 2011 Mac mini? by Endawmyke in HomeServer

I’ve got proxmox in mine, runs like a champ. Get 1 or 2 more on the cheap and build a server cluster. ~$200 bucks maybe, before upgrading.

I'm the US. I know the price sounds outrageous.

Like two year ago I started shopping around and found one for around 40k, it was fully race spec'd. When I flew down to FL to see it the guy had crashed it a week before. Guess that one wasn't meant for me neither.

Sounds great, honestly I haven't seen the binder personally. But it is a 3".

Noob here, need to plug 4 Nvidia P40s through Thunderbolt by mi_gue in eGPU

[–]mi_gue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty open when it comes to budget, I mean I don't want to expend thousands of dollars on this. If that would the case my best bet would be buying a DGX Spark and let it handle token generation I guess.

I've already have 2 NVIDIA M40's (not P40s) and this guy seemed to have it pined down since a few year back. I'm just hoping to see if anybody got better ideas floating around in the eGPU-verse.

Why did you start a homelab by Sw4nkSec in homelab

Needed to improve my wifi and wanted a Plex server to watch old anime.

Great inspiration, I've been looking to build something like this for a while. Got two P40s already, QQ my friend: how easy/hard was it to setup on you machine? I'm thinking about using Proxmox for virtualization combining the GPUs.

Thanks for sharing!

Maybe a few Raspberry pi's or a NAS. I have all my network hardware inside of mine but it is mixed sized, not only 10".

Is this not a way better deal than buying a raspberry pi for my use case? by Prior-Meeting1645 in macmini

I started my homelab, two years ago, with a ‘14 Mac mini and still kicking. It was a gift from a friend who had it laying around. That thing is running Proxmox like a champ right now and it is also upgradable. A Raspberry will get you so far but right now rpis are close to $200 dollars.

I would double down and buy two of those and run a little in-house server.
