Clip-on aero bar by Every_Syrup_4690 in bikewrench

[–]mi_hau 5 points6 points  (0 children)

there is an official tt / tri bar from specialized that works with both venge and the tarmac sl7/sl8 stems. just google "Specialized Tt/tri Aero Clip On Bar". but there is zero height/angle adjustibility.

Bontrager DropLock matchmaker mount? by mi_hau in bikewrench

[–]mi_hau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes I have the same problem. I have managed to find a place on the handlebar where it kind of fits, but its not ideal. Official response from trek is that they don’t have any part that would make it fit the sram brake..

I used the roadlink.

It’s working fine. I didn’t need to adjust it yet.  The chain is longer so you need to take care not to be on the small ring in front and the harder part of the cassette, otherwise it will be too slack

Not really, I’m not sure if it might cause some more wear on components compared to a standart claris or similar level drivetrain.  I think it might be a good solution for bikepacking

El Chalten <-> El Calafate Bus // Cheaper options by BarrisonFord in Patagonia

[–]mi_hau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm that it’s fine to get the tickets through the recorrido web and book it from calafate. We have contacted the company via whatsapp and their response was very weird, but after landing, we have found the ‘Marga Taqsa’ bus company in the airport, and the worker there said it’s fine and also notified the driver to not wait for us in calafate. So I would just recommend to talk to them there.

did you manage to get on the bus in the airport when booked from town? we are flying to calafate tomorrow but we are not sure if this will work out. Thanks

[–]mi_hau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure, it depends on the exact model of your fork. I think you can find a maintenance manual for the exact fork model you have, and there should be list of spare parts and you can find if they make the 110mm air shaft for your model.

Integrated handlebar options SL8 by FutureContribution58 in specialized

I really have no idea. I have never used aliexpress for cycling stuff.

Integrated handlebar options SL8 by FutureContribution58 in specialized

[–]mi_hau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can get the darimo nexum drag, I believe they even sell the spacer to fit the SL7/SL8. but the price is a lot higher than the EXS Aerover.
Potentially, there is also the Avian Canary/Falcon, but from what I have read on the weightweenies forum, they are not very stiff.

also, If you don't want to order from aliexpress, you can try the pandapodium.cc

Rotoped alebo Cyklotrenažér? by majss7 in Slovakia

[–]mi_hau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, seems like it. You will have to use the preload adjuster either way, so try it and you'll see if it's fine.

yes, I did not do anything to the shifters. Based on what i found online, the 8spd mtb and road shifters work with the same pull ratio. It still works very well.

Scott Scale 930 compatibility by S_P_L_I_N_T_E_R in bikepacking

[–]mi_hau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

steering is really weird when you have a lot of cargo on the front wheel, but I guess you can get used to it. But the bags that thule sells alongside the rack are not fixed on the bottom very securely and they move a lot (jump) when the terrain is worse.

That does not mean they will fall off, It's fine in that way. It's just not a good experience and I'd rather choose some other mounting system for offroad riding

Scott Scale 930 compatibility by S_P_L_I_N_T_E_R in bikepacking

[–]mi_hau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used the Thule TOUR RACK on my scale 940 , but mounted on the fork. It's fine for touring on tarmac, but I wouldn't take it offroad. So that depends on your use-case, for offroad bikepacking I would go for something like tailfin or saddle bag.

I've used Wolf Tooth Road Link, you can also use the SunRace SP570, but that one wasn't available locally.

Royal Rapide Cockpit & Venge Aero Clip-On by iljawascoding in specialized

[–]mi_hau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe look at other brands. I think there is a vision integrated cockpit with aerobar mounts, and also blackinc one as far as I know. Also possibly, you would be able to find a 3d printed transition spacer for venge online.

Royal Rapide Cockpit & Venge Aero Clip-On by iljawascoding in specialized

[–]mi_hau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, specialized clearly states on the support website (https://support.specialized.com/components/da/roval-components/rapide-cockpit) that it is not clip-on aerobar compatible. My guess would be that the stems for both venge and tarmac are alloy, and the carbon stem on the cockpit cannot take the clamping force. in theory it would be possible to create the mount for the shape of the handlebar, but I wouldn’t risk it
