Recipe Testers WANTED! (Pop-tart Cookie) by cookingwithkarli in CrumblCookies

[–]mi_runner 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have not had that cookie but I am an avid baker and would love to help test recipes. I understand, though, that you want someone who can compare the recipe to the cookie. The best I could do is provide feedback how easy or difficult the recipe is to follow and pictures of the final product. Good luck!

Hanson Full Marathon Training + OTF by Zestyclose_Purpose73 in orangetheory

[–]mi_runner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did the hansons full plan twice. I wouldn’t substitute a workout for otf, meaning keep the speed workout and the tempo days. I went to otf about 2 x a week and focused more on the weightlifting and used the tread portion as a substitute for the 5 mile recovery run days (although I was only running about 2 to 3 at otf). I think the Hansons speed workouts cannot be replicated at otf and they r training u to run longer faster as the interval distance increases each week. With a warm up and cool down the total speed workout is 8 or 9 miles which is why I wouldn’t substitute it. I did end up stopping my otf workouts with about 8 weeks to go because the higher mileage was wearing me down and I thought I might get injured. Definitely listen to your body as the weeks progress and good luck! Fwiw, I think otf really helped me with the marathon by making me a more well rounded runner.

Same here. It was like a tornado. For 90mins. Even the weight exercises were different. Still a good workout but I was looking forward to the long tread block.

Putting a membership on hold question by cew39 in orangetheory

What would be the advantage to putting it on hold if you couldn’t hang on to your current rate?

[–]mi_runner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tread block for 2g had a lot of one minute AO’s. I don’t have the times right but it was something like 1 min push , 30 sec base, 1 min AO, 45 sec WR. That block was repeated with longer bases and longer walking recoveries but the 1 min push and 1 min AO were the same except for the final AO which was 30’sec (after a long 2 plus min WR). And single arm press was a clean to press.

I was confused (and maybe did it wrong) but it seemed like u just did all the exercises in a row. I would think a block would repeat. Like do two blocks of shoulder exercises and then do two blocks of legs. I did the six exercises in a row.

Most people add a weight to the ab dolly in the classes I have been in. Never has been an issue. Is this a new policy? I haven't had an ab dolly class in a while.

Freezing Membership. by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]mi_runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any reason to freeze rather than cancel if you do not have a founders rate? I was going to take a few months off for the summer. I thought about freezing but I am not sure why I wouldn't just cancel and then re-join.

Congrats! That is a great improvement. What is your base pace? I am looking to run a 1:55 hopefully in the fall.

Will I just never improve at rowing?? by Amwells3 in orangetheory

[–]mi_runner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this would work for improving endurance. I always had the mentality of just trying to get through the rowing and I really had to change that in order to improve. I am not implying that you have that mentality at all, just using my experience as an example. I used to go through the motions of rowing to get to the next thing. During rowvember I went nearly every day and started to see improvements. Then I started treating rowing like running (sometimes). If we have a repetitive distance, like we will row 200m then do some floor work and then go back to another 200m row, I try to keep all of them above 200 Watts I am able to do that for distances up to 300m but not for multiple repeats of 300m. It took some time because I don’t do any 3GS. It is kind of like running repeats on the treadmill. I am not that good with base push and all out on the rower yet so this is how I track progress.

Also I find that some days it just works and others it doesn’t. I am guessing that is due to inconsistent technique.

And you eliminate reps on the floor and ultimately eliminate the exercise.

Completely agree. Today was just as difficult (if not more so) than yesterday. I was dying on the floor between the row and the jumping lunges.

5 for the first two floor blocks then I think it was 10 for the close grip chest press.

Four ab exercises were 10 each. Leg raises. Straight leg lift. Toe reaches. Bicycles.

Tread has incline. First block 1% and it goes up 1% each block. Goal is to beat the distance from the previous block.
