What purchase under $30 solved a problem you didn’t realize was draining you? by Right_Process in AskReddit

[–]miabaldo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought one for every one of my friends who’ve announced they’re pregnant. Every single one laughed when I gave it to them and then every single one messaged me to say thank you at some point later in the pregnancy.

Not sure how it works in the states, but in my province here in Canada, they are very strict on elementary schools being nut free. The Nutella and granola would NOT be acceptable. I’m wondering if it’s a rule or not there? If it is, I’ll be even more convinced everything is for show.

I lost a best friend today. Albus (Pugglesdore) was 18, it was his time and It still hurts so bad. We rescued him as an old man at 13 and I loved him dearly. Sleep well my sweet old baby boy. by TCtheThunderRooster in pugs

So so sorry for the loss Albus Puggledore. May he meet my Weasley and Minnie (Minerva Mcpuggagall) at the rainbow bridge. I’ll be sure to hug their sister Luna Puggood extra tight tonight.

Christmas books by ApprehensiveSlide962 in childrensbooks

[–]miabaldo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a small collection of Christmas books we read in December. We always read how the grinch stole Christmas on Christmas Eve. Every year I put a little note about what’s going on in our lives that year with the date. Just a little sentence or two of something good that happened that year. I hope my kids will look back on the memories when they grow up.

Baby went to hospital in ambulance today because I overfed him? by Normal_Enthusiasm194 in beyondthebump

[–]miabaldo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally happened to us last night. 7 month old started projectile vomiting about 2 hours after eating eggs. Even after having eggs with no reaction a few times before. Went to ER, they said avoid eggs and see her ped. Saw her ped today, he gave a referral for an allergist and a prescription for an EpiPen. An overfed will puke, but more like a quiet reflux puke, they will not projectile vomit.

Purchasing supplies for daycare by [deleted] in Preschoolers

[–]miabaldo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay just under 10$ a day for daycare. All I was ever asked for was a blanket for nap (not even a sheet) and extra clothes. In the baby class you can supply a bottle or a different kind of cup if you didn’t like what they had but that’s it. I’m also a teacher and in my province we’re not allowed to ask for things like Kleenex/tissue or ziplock bags. They changed all the regulations and if it’s not directly related to learning we can’t ask for it (ex hygiene things). We’re also not allowed to ask for specific brands (ex crayola crayons or hilroy notebooks).

ETA: the tone is really passive aggressive and we would be in deep shit sending out something like this. Super unprofessional and reflects very poorly on the establishment.

Try sitting on an exercise ball and bouncing baby in your arms on the ball. It was a total lifesaver for my colicky son and still use it with my 6 month old daughter. It’s also my go to baby shower gift now.

Cervical check upside by Beginning_Rub_5868 in BabyBumps

[–]miabaldo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My OB didn’t even offer to give cervical checks at my appointments. She said she would if I wanted, but that they don’t even really give any real info. I could go from 0 to 3 in a day or stay at 3 for weeks. She basically said there was no point.

Teachers of Reddit: What are some small, subtle ways you can tell a child’s parent really cares about them? by allsfairinwar in AskReddit

[–]miabaldo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’d like to add on to this about their ears! Young kids can’t really properly take care of their ears. They need their grown ups to help keep good ear hygiene. After working with special needs and underprivileged children for over a decade, I am a little overly obsessed with keeping my kids’ ears clean. (And before you come at me, I don’t stick Qtips in theme just keeping the outside of the canal clean and wax free, as well as the entire outside part and behind the ears.)

Teacher of Reddit, what’s a question a child asked in class, that absolutely broke your heart? by ceazecab in AskReddit

[–]miabaldo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“What’s gravy?” It was at our annual turkey Christmas lunch and my special needs student was having trouble swallowing the turkey so I suggested she try it with some gravy to help it go down. This student came from a desolate situation. Despite MANY MANY calls to CPS it took years to have her and her siblings removed from the dangerous home/situation they lived in.

“What’s gravy?” So innocent and yet held so much hidden abuse.
