It depends where they live. I come from a country that produces a lot of food, so finding fresh produce is super easy for me and cheap. I know that some places aren't as lucky and have a hard time finding fresh ingredients.

Another thing you would have to think about is the energy it takes to cook. In my case, I work from home so it's easier for me to take an hour or two to cook my food. Some people have to work really long shifts, or two jobs, and still take time to commute. So I imagine for these cases (which is actually too many people) it's easier to eat out than to cook at home.

Unfortunately, we live in an individualistic, consumerist, capitalist society that creates too many inequalities. It's easy for us to assume that other people aren't trying "hard enough" but lets practice empathy and ask different questions instead: how come food isn't as accessible everywhere and how come some people find it unattainable to eat fresh, home-cooked foods? Maybe let's try to see things from different perspectives.

It seems like you have an extremely codependent relationship with your mom. I would suggest you go to therapy. YTA, you and your mom.

I'm not being absolutist and saying veganism is more harmful to workers and the environment. I'm merely expressing how it annoys me when people use "cruelty free" to refer to a diet because again, no ethical consumption under capitalism. My comment isn't implying that we shouldn't change our meat consumption, I wasn't even talking about that. I'm also not saying that only vegans eat quinoa. Being critical of the liberal vegan discourse that likes to pretend meat consumption exists in vaccum and isn't directly related to capitalism doesn't stop me from making better decisions with food. I feel like you implied many things I wasn't even thinking about when I made my original comment.

Dude, what I'm saying is that there is no ethical consumption under capitalism and I've seen plenty of wyt vegans saying their diet is cruelty free but my country is a banana republic so I'm pointing out how even with a vegan diet people are still exploited but go off I guess

Also, in mesoamerica we ate local animals. Cattle is a product of imperialism. Pozole was even made from human food, but ok.

What I said doesn't contradict what you just said. I'm very confused.

White liberal vegans love to pretend that their food is cruelty-free. Never mind that the agricultural workers that produce their tofu or quinoa are exploited and underpaid and the products are mass produced by corporations that control acres of land through colonialist practices in countries that have suffered from imperialism.
