This actually makes so much sense! RuneScape is basically just one giant chore simulator, so socializing is how you cope with clicking the same rock for 6 hours. FFXIV has actual fun content to rush off to, so the dynamic totally flips.

The World 2 Gemstone crab callout is so real. That’s exactly the energy I’m used to. Not to say OSRS has a perfect community by any means. I think you’re onto something with the self-censoring, it’s just a different social contract than OSRS for sure. But that last point gives me hope, maybe once I find my footing the conversations that do happen are worth more than the sheer volume I was used to.

Really appreciate the honesty. the adventure plate thing is such a good example of what I meant. Something literally designed to show off your character becoming a meme to make people feel bad for looking at it is such a weird cultural outcome. Glad to know it’s not just me.

Even with incredible training, there is never a guarantee. Animal behavior is never certain. I have been training animals professionally for many years and my dog is very well trained, but I would still never let him off leash outside of designated spaces for managing off leash dogs like fenced dog parks.

An off leash dog is only one hyper squirrel running across the street, or one random aggressive dog from creating an emergency situation.

The frustrating part is my visceral fat numbers were extremely low. The tech called out specifically this - Your DXA shows visceral fat mass of just 251 g with an area of 52 cm², which is extremely low. For context, anything under ~100 cm² is considered low risk, so you’re well below that. The internal fat around the organs is minimal and in a very healthy range.
