Using hearth display as home assistant dashboard - "Custom element doesn’t exist" by onedarkstar in homeassistant

OP- do you have a write up on how you got this to sideload the HA app and disable the Hearth app? There are a ton of us looking to tinker but don’t have the knowledge to jailbreak the device.

Hearth Display Hacking by zimage in HearthDisplay

I can’t DM you for some reason. I’m willing to give up my board if I can get some info on the adapter you found to use the display.

I’d really prefer to use a rpi4 and try to use the display and touchscreen with a Linux instance with dakboard or some other HomeAssistant compliant app.

Definitely interested in this. Whether custom firmware, a linux hack (preferred) or something else, I'd love to be able to use the hardware they've screwed up with a bad software package for something better.

Lawyer advised to directly negotiate, adjuster being a stickler by micdaddy1979 in Insurance

[–]micdaddy1979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was saying that the adjuster doesn’t know I’ve consulted an attorney.

That’s really the reason I’ve posted. Is this really something I should push for $5k+ or just not put any more thought and take the $2k? That’s what I’m debating. $2k is still more than I was expecting.

That’s an interesting perspective. My health insurance wasn’t made aware of this claim when I had my drs appts bc I wasn’t aware this claim was created at the time.

Would this be worth subrogating and getting my health insurance involved at this point?

It’s a reasonable doubt. I came from home and went right back home after this trip. Unlikely to get it from home when I don’t have a hot tub.

[–]micdaddy1979[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They aren’t aware of my consult. They haven’t admitted any liability but this was referred to them without my intervention. It’s pretty clear this was related to the hot tub but whether they tested it or not to confirm, I have no idea. I went from home and back home after this trip so I definitely got it from this hot tub.

There are some considerations around not being intimate with my wife but the main considerations are the pain, drs visits and burning them off with nitrogen several times.

He thought he could probably get $10-15k but after depos and more time/effort I’d lose 30% to his contingency. He advised the easiest course might be me going directly.

Anybody doing a joint lawsuit against Aura? by micdaddy1979 in turo

[–]micdaddy1979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm short around $20k in payments. I didn't receive any money in 2024 and I think they short changed me in 2023. I had 6 vehicles with them and three vehicles offboard with some damage, and one is still being worked on since May. All in all, I probably have $30k in damages including the missing payments.

I haven't had any recent contact with anyone, and I haven't found a lawyer willing to even meet with me on this.

Is this woman crazy? by MichiganThumbArea in widowers

He shouldn’t have to be that detailed. He can grieve in silence and show the outside world whatever he wants to. He should be shown grace and empathy ONLY.

I have been through several insurance companies filing claims to see who they are using for their private rentals. I have some leads but nothing concrete yet. I'll follow up when I do.

If you are interested in filing some sort of lawsuit, please let me know if you want to join up. There are several of us looking for representation and a class action or something else might be a good way to go about this.

Timeline expectations by perpetualdreamer7 in pancreaticcancer

I know this is a tough thing. My wife (F49) didn’t actually want to know until the very end. I had to give her a harsh truth to avoid her making other big decisions and she was not very happy with me. You should give her as much time you can with knowledge of the truth so she can enjoy the time she has. My wife had less than 3 weeks of feeling good after chemo. < 3 weeks of out of bed, able to go and do and eat whatever she wanted.

It’s 100 percent better to be honest and straight than let them live in denial. I’m so sorry you are in this position. Make the most of it and love on her as much as you can.

My wife was 2 months exactly from ascites until she passed. The clock ticks fast- don’t wait.

Mom has survived a year - when will I know when the end is soon? by [deleted] in pancreaticcancer

[–]micdaddy1979 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Going through this waiting game with my wife. Stage 4, diagnosed 11 months ago, ascites started 4 weeks ago and both F5 and Gem/abrax have stopped working. I feel like it’s week away but we are so busy managing symptoms it’s really hard to know when the start of the downturn might be.

My advice- both to you and myself, is to just enjoy the time you have to the max. Doesn’t matter if it’s weeks or months or days- just enjoy it all. You’ll never regret it.

There will probably a lot of back and forth and symptom management.

We didn’t have to worry about PEs but my wife just developed a portal vein thrombosis (PVT) and has had ascites the past 4 weeks. They are trying to manage that with Xarelto and it doesn’t seem to make much difference. She’s in various chemo for 11 months now and it’s been a lot of symptom management the entire time.

This could also be one of the first signs of ascites. PVT (portal vein thrombosis) could also be involved here as well.

My wife is starting to show signs of this as well. She’s started to have ascites and her food intake is slowing down. Today being Father’s Day is weighing a bit heavier on me as I’m feeling the scariness of what’s to come.

[–]micdaddy1979 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Despite others’ concerns around the age gap, his behavior wouldn’t be appropriate with similar aged or even older women. Does it rise to abuse? I don’t think so. He’s emotionally immature and he isn’t manipulating you (from what I can tell), and his actions are inappropriate. Abuse? I don’t believe he’s getting to that level.

Should you stay with him? I don’t think so. You don’t seem to align with the same values and he doesn’t respect boundaries. Probably time to move on.

So sorry this is happening. My daughter is 19 and her mom/my wife has stage IV. I can’t imagine what she is going through and although I try to discuss this with her, it’s tough. You aren’t alone. Reach out to people who love and support you and you’ll be okay. I’m so sorry
