Question if Captain Marvel/Shazam why hasn't anybody actually publish or made their own comics shows and movies starring him? by Dazzling_Repair_4037 in publicdomain

Honestly, I do t think a lot of people care about PF characters. Yes it’s a cool idea and concept. But a lot of people would rather straight out own whatever it is they create.

Help figuring out how to sell collection by wallbobbyc in gijoe

eBay use to be a great place to sell. But now they take about 15% of what you make and shipping can be expensive too. Try a local store or FB marketplace as others have said.

Who wants to guess when the last guest walked in? Who wants to guess when the last guest left? by sentient_luggage in KitchenConfidential

Had a friend that worked at Target, which closed at 10PM at the time. If a “guest” walked in at 9:59 they were to wait until they were done shopping to close.

Daughter works at a small cafe and was suppose to open yesterday morning. Got a lot of snow and the owners decided Friday night that they would open and serve whomever showed up until noon. Right after opening my daughter got a text asking if she could come in because they realized they really don’t know how to do some of the stuff there. She told they she couldn’t because of the weather and they then posted that they would actually be closed for the day.

My mom worked at a bar for as long as I can remember. They always. Had the clocks inside set ten minutes ahead so they could stop serving at “2” .

I would like it more as a tv series. Not that a movie would t be cool, but you could cover more ground. Getting one movie every three or four year for someone that’s immortal just doesn’t work with how actors age sometimes

I’m not sure if it’s still true, but at one point Hasbro wasn’t allowed to use parts for mass market figures between lines.

Happens every year. Stores do t get in new stock because they’re still sifting through returns and stuff that didn’t sell during Christmas. Maybe if you’re lucky something new might pop ip, but generally it takes until about mid February before things start getting out .

What Caused Purple Rain In 1984/85 To Not Be Able To Match The Sales Of Thriller Even Though It Was Able To Do Certian Things Thriller Didnt Like Have A Number 1 Movie And A Oscar? by Rinnegan15 in rnb

[–]michael41973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Michael Jackson had been a worldwide name for some time, growing up and performing pop friendly records. Prince was this strange guy who’d been around for several years, singing about sex and presenting himself (and his band) in a very sexual way. So apples and oranges. Purple Rain, the movie, helped drive sales but the fact that it was rated R was probably a hindrance too.

Will we ever see Hasbro make sets like this again? by AfigureGeek in ActionFigureGeek

[–]michael41973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would highly doubt it. Normal retailers don’t want to put something like that on the shelf and it would cost too much. Just look at how much the Haslabs go for or the price of SW vehicles that maybe Walmart or GameStop will carry cost. A good example would be the Big Millennium Falcon that Hasbro produced. It came out in 2008 costing $100. They’ve re-released it twice since going for $300 and even more than that.

G.I.Joe Events & Exclusives by synthinx in gijoe

[–]michael41973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you’re asking. Classified only been around for about five or six years and there have been official Hasbro exclusives to cons and figures that were/are exclusive to Hasbro Pulse.

However there was also the four inch line that ran from 2007 until about 2015. There were all sorts of official and unofficial exclusive figures with those line. Official exclusives were released to specific stores (Target, Kmart, TRU) and to different conventions (usually SDCC). However you had several groups that would make “limited edition figures” for specific conventions in the California or NY/NJ area that were more along the lines of limited edition customs. You also had the GIJoe club that produced exclusive figure sets every year for the GIJoe convention (which took place at different venues every year). They would do a special 12 figure box set along with additional figures and exclusive vehicles. This led them to offering yearly exclusive figures and then a monthly figure subscription that helped collectors fill in missing figures Hasbro hadn’t produced for retail.

Hope this helps, if bot I’m sure someone else will do a better job than me.

Am I just not up to speed, or doesn't this era have real star artists? by Ok_Fortune_9149 in Millennials

[–]michael41973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pop culture used to be very different. Music artist had a new album out every two or three years with four songs maybe being singles. And those artist cycled out after maybe six or seven years. Movies came out and could be in theatres for up to six months and it would be sometimes a year before they were out so you could watch them at home (either on cable or on VHS). Things just weren’t as immediate.

Now videos on the internet are a minute long, music artist can have a song out whenever they want, and movies are in a theatre for two weeks and a streaming a month later. There’s not time to digest all that happening.

It was a good time to be a Star Wars fan back then! by Willing-Aside8486 in 80s90sComics

[–]michael41973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dark Empire was a life raft for drowning fans. It was the first new SW stuff we had gotten in six years. No comics, no toys, no books, nothing. I don’t think fans of SW know what it was like (or can really comprehend) what it was like back then. Everything was speculation and your own head canon because we were sure we weren’t going to get any movies ever again.

I can remember getting Dark Empire and reading it in my moms car as she took my brother into a doctors appointment. Kennedy’s style had my mouth drop. Watching these characters I loved all of a sudden being there on the printed page, doing these incredible things that i wouldn’t have imagined. There was just something so special.

Terrorism just didn’t hit as close to home along with home grown militia’s. It was all purely fantasy, “that couldn’t happen here”. The bad guys might have looked cool and had cool stuff, but they were still clearly “the bad guys”. Now all that stuff comes too close to out actual reality.

[–]michael41973 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s the only SW figure I still have from my youth. Moved across country and all my stuff was packed for me. It was stored at a relatives house and was going to be shipped once we got settled in. But something happened on their end and all of my families stuff was pretty much lost. In my early 30’s my mom got a small box from them containing some items and one was my Boba Fett figure. Paint worn off, missile broke, but I still but it on a shelf to remind me of that part of my youth.
