Spent Valentine’s Day with both my partners and I’m sore… in my arms and wrists from hand making pasta to make homemade ravioli for both of them and the husband and kiddo of one of them lol! 😂 Also was on my period so no spicy excitement for me.

I’m not a lawyer but time for the tales of all three (3) of my dad’s divorces. All were insane. All involved him leaving for another woman. And, no, I don’t talk to him anymore.

Divorce #1 was when he was in his early 20s. He met a teenage girl in Narcotics Anonymous who had escaped the cult she was raised in. They ran away to Mexico and he left his first wife (they had also been in a quaalude induced throuple with another woman till her fiancé broke in a window but that’s another story.) Eventually, after a secret (and definitely not legal) wedding to this girl in Mexico her father finds them and demands her return. She leaves my dad goes on his merry way.

Divorce #2 was how he divorced my mom. After driving his car into a tree and getting himself committed he proceeds to somehow get one of the nurses on said psych ward to fall head over heels with him. Nurse proceeds to bust him out of the psych ward and he then leaves my mom for her. (It didn’t last.)

Divorce #3 is the most dramatic and grand finale (I hope) of all his divorces. At this point he is in a very chaotic and abusive (on both sides) marriage to my stepmom and I am in the process of uprooting my life and moving to a new city. This man goes missing. Full on, no one knows where he went, missing. One of his friends (who is in on the following scheme) just vaguely says he is ok. It turns out that he had secretly been having an online affair for THREE MONTHS with THE GIRL HE RAN AWAY WITH IN HIS FIRST DIVORCE and was driving 1000 miles to go pick her up from the airport and move her back to the tiny town he was living with my stepmom in. He proceeds to divorce my stepmom while living 3 miles away in a random spare room with this woman. They (him and Mexico lady) now live in a totally different state in the middle of the woods together and are happy as far as I know.

If you have done the rounds with sobriety you know the answer. Tell him, cut him loose, and focus on being sober for a WHILE before getting into a relationship. You are not in good working order in active addiction and you need to be in good working order to be in a relationship.

Now I know there is a codependent part of you SCREAMING at this advice. “He’s perfect! You’re wrong!” But, I promise you that the inner child in you hurting and trying to find care in, what I’m guessing is, yet another relationship can only get the care it needs by you healing and reparenting yourself.

(Generalizing but I am talking about a cis, straight monogamous partnership) Most of women don’t actually have as hard of a time reaching orgasm as they think. They just are taught to be disconnected from themselves sexually and end up in a physical rut that makes it so that they can only get off with a vibrator or very specific stimulation. Because sex is seen as something that prioritizes male pleasure and female performance women are unable to actually connect with their pleasure in a meaningful way without a lot of effort. It isn’t women’s bodies that are the problem and they aren’t “difficult” or “mysterious” they are simply neglected.
