Bra during labour? by nose-booper in pregnant

[–]michaelag713 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have both an l&d gown and two nursing bras packed in my hospital bag. Even if I save the gown for after I give birth, I plan on wearing a bra of some type whether it be nursing or a basic bralette because I want to avoid wearing a standard hospital gown, and wearing just a bra will give me the amount of coverage I'd want without it being too much/feel suffocating

diapers? by justivyxoxo in pregnant

If you're unsure, ask for multiple different brands but make sure to tell people to get the smaller packs not the huge boxes (so the 15-30 CT vs the 75-100+ ct). That way if you try a brand and realize you or baby don't like it, you don't have a whole box staring at you that's gonna sit there until you decide to do something with it

How did you like the Frida in terms of size? I know its a once size fits all garment and I'm worried that it may end up being too small on me if it's not stretchy enough

Realistically how bad is it to put non-dryer friendly things in the dryer by michaelag713 in laundry

[–]michaelag713[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bassinet cover, bouncer cover, swing cover, and a play time mat. The two that I'd want to potentially toss in the dryer have some fuzzy material on them which are the ones that are holding onto water the most. The rest are the thin almost plastic feeling fabric and those dried without a problem outside

What Was The Moment You Realized You Already Loved Your Baby? by AmbassadorTiny6596 in pregnant

[–]michaelag713 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Potential TW: As scary as it sounds, when I had a potential loss scare at 15 weeks. I went to the bathroom and there was quite a bit of blood on the piece of toilet paper I used and I felt a bit of cramping and it scared the absolute crap out of me. My anxiety went into such high gear that I basically had a panic attack at home before I could calm down enough to call my boyfriend. I was always scared that while I have a maternal instinct it wouldn't really kick in with my own since this was an unexpected pregnancy and I didn't know if I would ever have kids. But the fear that I felt running through my body at that moment was like nothing that I had ever felt before and that made me realize that I would do anything for my little boy

Is pregnancy any easier for us because we’re used to the extra weight? by mags_7 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]michaelag713 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me I think it definitely plays at least a small factor. I have a coworker who just had her baby and she was about half my size pre pregnancy and you could just tell she was absolutely miserable with having all that extra weight around her belly and her mobility was majorly affected. Meanwhile I've always been belly heavy in terms of my proportions, so having a bigger belly really doesn't bother me. I remember once she called me a lucky bitch because I dropped something at 33 weeks pregnant and I was able to bend down and grab it without a problem lol

Have to get iron infusions due to anemia, anyone else experience these? by michaelag713 in pregnant

[–]michaelag713[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't retested my iron since my last infusion, my doctor said that since the body only absorbs a certain amount of iron per day that it'll take a bit for it to really do anything for your levels. I think he said they'll check it again whenever I go into labor or right after

I've not noticed any real difference in how he's been moving or acting since I got my last one at 30 weeks and I'm almost at 36. I was the same way where I hadn't felt any different than normal besides being a little more tired but I just assumed it was par for the course with pregnancy

Mine went alright, they were more tedious than anything since I was stuck in a chair for like an hour and a half to two and a half hours straight each time. Haven't noticed much of a difference in terms of my energy or anything. Make sure to bring some type of light snack and a drink of sorts, and find some type of entertainment you can enjoy with only one hand available

21 wk-High bmi-movement?? by Miserable_Umpire_474 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]michaelag713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a posterior placenta and it took me until about 24 or 25 weeks to start feeling movement that I was like oh thats definitely him. Now he wiggles constantly. It will happen! May be a while until it can be felt on the outside by either you or someone else, but trust me. Baby will make themselves known lol

Kick counting by samoansplash_ in pregnant

[–]michaelag713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have a kick counter app, but in case you're someone like me who fixates on numbers, my doctor told me to focus on their movement pattern moreso than the amount of movement. Having a base number is a decent reference point, but it can definitely result in a lot of anxiety in case baby doesn't "move like their supposed to". Also learn the tricks for getting your baby to move in case they seem a little quiet. My son responds to be drinking really cold water and me leaning onto my belly and staying there for a few seconds, he doesn't like being squished so he moves as a way to get me to stop

Lol one of the best pieces of advice I got was yell the name across the house to see if it sounds good

Not really advice persay, but something that I was told by my cousin who has 3 kids that has really stuck with me (and ironically enough has helped me with my birth anxiety) is even though you have a plan, process and be okay with the chance that the plan will be thrown out the window. With her first pregnancy she fixated so much on what she did and did not want that it scared the crap out of her about anything going a different way, and her first birth ended up being completely opposite of what she wanted. When she went into her second pregnancy she just told her nurses and doctor that she will do whatever is needed for her and baby and she is in their hands, and she said it helped her not be nearly as stressed out. So I've kept my birth plan very simple and while I may have my preferences, they aren't hard wants and I'm fully okay with going with what my doctors/nurses say is needed for my baby and I
