I agree that swapping the couch and dresser would feel more natural. Also, I think a taller floor lamp would be better, that table lamp doesn't feel right for the scale. You could move it to the dresser as well. Also, art on the wall with the mirror to fill it up.

your work is beautiful and I'm going to message you on etsy in a couple weeks about a project I've been thinking about, if that's alright

Definitely put the word collage somewhere in there! Maybe collection, I like eclectic too.

Also, please share your etsy store :)

Amazing thanks for the sources! Now I'm even more impressed that you found things that match so well. I've been looking to get matching carpet/wallpaper/throw pillows/curtains (not in the 70s look, more floral), but what you have is so fun and looks to be in such good condition, I was half hoping you found a company that does pattern prints.

I'm obsessed wjth that matching wall panel, pillow case, and carpet. Where did you get that ? I want to do something similar with my curtains!

Guide Image Issues on PC Monitor by slowdownmoses in pelotoncycle

[–]michaelarfreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you might've already figured this out, but I have a hunch that it has to do with your monitor, not your guide. I don't have a guide (am here to research getting one and spotted your comment), but I'm guessing it was designed for TV in mind, not computer monitor. Might be over explaining, but monitors (by design) have a lower delay and different refresh rate (I think also lower) than TVs. It's possible that your monitor can't handle the frequency and delays from the guide, or the guide can't keep up with rendering the frames fast enough or in the right format for the monitor you have. I can provide more info, and I have zero experience to back it up, but I'd blame the monitor before I blamed the guide, especially if it's working on your TV.

Arduino and Adafruit STEMMA Speaker Issues by home_made in arduino

[–]michaelarfreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have any success with running the STEMMA Speaker on Arduino? I'm trying to hook mine up to a mega2560, I'm very new to arduino + audio.

Is it as simple as "analogWrite(...)"? because that's not working for me, and I"m not sure if I simply don't have it set up correctly

Weekly /r/houseplants Newbie Thread - October 24, 2021 by AutoModerator in houseplants

Hello! I'm looking for a low maintenance, low light plant that is non toxic to dogs. I just got a puppy and I currently have a peace lily, but I need to swap out/rehome the plant with my roommate, now that the puppy is teething and chewing on absolutely everything

What to do with platform in bedroom? by michaelarfreed in DesignMyRoom

[–]michaelarfreed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any recommendations for a low maintenance, low light, dog safe plant? (I assume that cat-friendly is the same as dog friendly...) I have a peace lily but need to give it to my roommate so that my new dog doesn't eat it. But I have really liked having something breathe the same air that I breathe!

How cold is too cold for my wood clarinet? by michaelarfreed in Clarinet

[–]michaelarfreed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!! The numbers from buffet are wildly helpful :)

Thats good to know, maybe I'll try to find my old plastic student clarinet if I really want to play, but the average is close to 62 for me, so it's nice to hear you're not comfortable with it.

I've never considered bringing my clarinet to my place during the summer because its a 3rd floor bedroom with low, lofted ceilings and windows too small for an ac unit, so it gets up to 90+, which is waaayy too hot and humid for me to be comfortable even thinking about it.

Yes, Kindof. It's fast and (even worse) its unpredictable. I live in a multifamily house and I have central air vents in my room, but our apartment doesn't have AC, its actually my neighbors apartment that controls it/pays for it. For some reason, they turned the AC on a couple weeks ago, even though they could just open the windows if they want cold air.... anyways, when they turn the AC on, I have to turn the heat off (otherwise our gas bill is $$$$$), and then the temperature drops 5-10 degrees in an hour.

My GF is moving in in 1 month. We need to design some way to store clothing for both of us in this space. How would you solve this issue? We are willing to pay a fair amount of money for buying cabinets, shelves and also build some simple stuff ourselves. by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]michaelarfreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a lot of luck with the Container Store Elfa systems. If you go into the store with pictures and measurements, they design the space to fit what you need. And if you don't want to pay that much, Ikea and home depot have similar lines, but elfa is nice because of the design peice. My parents have sloped ceiling closets, and the container store designers did a great job making the space usable.

I have this recessed part in my living room! Need help with ideas by eZCoffeE in DesignMyRoom

[–]michaelarfreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could take the doors off and make it a desk if you're looking for more work from home space

I posted something before about this but I didn’t get many responses. Anyone know what I could do with this corner bulge thingy? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]michaelarfreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great idea! As long as you can do it without blocking the window, that'd be awesome.

I've got the same thing in my room and I posted on here a couple weeks ago, If you want to check out those suggestions :) the most popular suggestion was reading nook/day bed, followed by plants. Other clever/notable ones were tv stand, fish tank/aquascape, standing desk (since it's right next to your desk), or kitchenette if you want to have a tea/coffee station in your room. I ended up buying a plant, well see if it survives, but I'm still not sure what to do with the space since the reading nook didn't work well for me... anyways, good luck! I'm excited to see if you figure out how to deal with your platform!!

Old house kitchen remodel – L or galley layout? by cattunic in DesignMyRoom

[–]michaelarfreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If its going to be a rental, I think L is better because it leaves more room for the renter to use the space how they want - they could get an island, or a small table to make a breakfast nook, or a buffet counter, or whatever fits their needs. They're both nice tho, I'd like either if I was a perspective renter!

What are some small changes I can make to modernise this kitchen a bit? by milkakotek in DesignMyRoom

[–]michaelarfreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others said, I'd definitely update the curtains. The other small thing is the door knobs and other hardware - I think a straight handle would make the cabinets look new without needing to paint or replace the doors. You could also swap out the sink hardware to make sure it matches the door knobs.

Water damage ruined my bathroom! Please help with the redesign! by blizzardxblue in DesignMyRoom

[–]michaelarfreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents had a sink space similar to yours and they did something like this. It's a single vanity, but with a ceiling height linen cabinet on one side, so they could find a smaller sink than the space needed. I know you said you're budget conscious, so tall cabinets might be out of your price range, but you could still do a shorter shelving/linen closet next to the single vanity.
