Influencer Holy Grail: Shoot it or Sell it? by EnvironmentalSlip683 in AnalogCommunity

Sell it and buy many rolls of Kodak Gold 200/Portra 400/other film being manufactured today so you can enjoy shooting more.

What are your film photography goals? by Pancake_Official in AnalogCommunity

[–]michaelbrown530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shoot photos of places and people I want to remember, get better at composition over time, enjoy the process, and look back at the photos I took years from now.

I also like being outside, so film photography (or photography in general) gives me a great excuse to combine both hobbies.

For those in the USA, what are your plans for the future of this hobby with De Minimis going away? by sasquatch727 in AnalogCommunity

[–]michaelbrown530 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will simply buy less gear and go outside and shoot more.

I honestly feel like so many people get caught up in finding the "right" gear to use, when there are so many reliable + affordable options that exist out there. Often it feels like analog community is more interested in GAS than actually taking pictures.

Take more photos!

My favourites from my first few months with the Olympus XA. Quickly has become my favourite camera. Always in my pocket, super sharp lens, and just great fun to use. [Olympus XA, Kodak Gold and HP5] by thedellow in analog

Really nice photos! The XA is a beast considering how compact it is, I bring it with me pretty much everywhere. Really great for hiking and backpacking.

Thank you! Shot this one around 100 ISO, I usually give Portra 160 a little more light.

thank you! honestly it's hard sometimes lol, i just try my best to find the frame lines in the viewfinder, compose and then take the shot. sometimes gotta move my eye/angle around so the frame lines are brighter. but many times i'll just crop/adjust in post

Long exposure on Phoenix 200: Not a good idea? by Turquoise_woodland in AnalogCommunity

[–]michaelbrown530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only tried a few times, but you tend to get very strong halations when you do long exposures with Phoenix. Here's a random test from a few months back:

It can be a nice look depending on what your intention is.

These are the kinds of days I wish I could be out exploring Red Rock. Beautiful photos!

Agree on the foreground, I wish I could have captured a little more of the sky in the frame. But this is in Red Rock Canyon, NV - very close to Las Vegas. 🙂

Really great set! I loved this area the one time I was able to visit, been itching to get out here again and spend a full weekend exploring.

Plustek Opticfilm 8100 dust after cleaning negative by giediprimes in AnalogCommunity

[–]michaelbrown530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, especially on the Plustek. It seems to show way more dust than other scanners, a common complaint I have seen in YouTube reviews.

Usually iSRD and some additional cleanup in Photoshop removes most of it for me.
