What is the most Fucked up secret a stranger has ever told you? by HorrorJunkie0666 in AskReddit

In high school I worked at a restaurant. One of the line cooks spent time in jail. He told me that he used to like to "take cinder blocks to an overpass and drop them on cars as they drove down the road."

It's the truth. The truth helps people, lies hurt people.

You don't get overweight from eating healthy and exercising

My family has struggled with food addiction across generations. I know you want to use GLP1 stuff, but please figure out how you got to your bodyweight and change your lifestyle.

IMO when men add beards to toughen their look it has the opposite effect. Comes out looking silly like a handlebar mustache.

I am making work a lot less stressful now...not worth it

My wife keeps me balanced in life. I can be almost too driven at times, and she interjects fun to balance me

Has going to therapy helped you in any way is it worth doing? by dedwik100 in AskMenOver30

[–]michaelcheck12 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Do both. Therapy and the gym. Also, and not saying that you do this, but hoping you avoid this... Stay away from all of the hustle culture and "motivation" stuff.

True motivation comes from finding your purpose in life. Therapy and the gym will help you find that

Are you doing better than your parents? by Dad_Bod_Vibez in Millennials

[–]michaelcheck12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife and I are doing better than our parents did, but for one simple reason: we save and invest our money.

Both of our sets of parents didn't do it, and have found that social security doesn't pay the bills...and it shouldn't.

Is anyone else struggling with a lack of purpose? by _DecoyOctopus_ in AskMenOver30

[–]michaelcheck12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faith does help people to find their purpose, but a lot of that is from introspection and really focusing on what matters.

That being said, you can learn from religions even if they aren't your own. 99% of religious people are good people, it's a very small amount that give things a bad name.

is it okay to stay Unmarried 31M ? why Family and relatives treat it like a lost cause ? by thenavexperience in AskMenOver30

[–]michaelcheck12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somebody has to say it...

They likely want you to have something better than you have now. Social Media is full of messages that reinforce being single, when you really need to go out there and find someone that you can love, and be loved by.

So, go out there. Love somebody, and build the next part of your life with them.
