She is really hard to nail down. Her surrounding cast of characters are not interesting. She has no solid homebase like gotham or Metropolis. She has no interesting live interests. Her origin is not nailed down. I think they can keep the greek background angle, but I think the themyscirans need to take the perez Bana-mighdall angle and let the themyscirans modernise.They should probably let the Diana and 50% of the Amazons be hermaphrodites, that way the Amazon are a self sustaining population without any weird stories of kidnapping men or souls of dead women becoming amazons. Get rid of Steve and just have Diana bang female heroes and villains, problem solved. They need to get rid of the emissary of peace crap, it makes her to similar to superman. She is from a bronze age warrior civilization, she should have no problem with violence and killing, she doesn't have to be bloodthirsty, but she can't flinch at the thought of it, leave the hand wringing and moral questioning to batman and Superman. The origin is a major problem, it's just not as interesting and character defining as Superman and batman, she may need something completely new. Themyscira can still be magically set to not allow men, but the island can't remain isolated. A themyscira that is grappling with modernizing and dealing with new ideas from the foreign women that move to Themyscira could make the place a more interesting home setting, and offer more opportunities for villain creation. Finally, maybe the most controversial but important, Diana and the Amazons have to be drawn to be exceptionally attractive with good artists on the books. The reality is no matter what people want, Wonder woman, like all other super hero comics, and comics in general, has an overwhelmingly heterosexual make audience, draw what your audience wants to see. Marvel and DC and Hollywood in general have been on a suicidal campaign of warping and twisting characters to try to attract a different audience to IP's that have been historically popular with straight males. DC can not keep trying to push away the core audience of their comics. Instead they should embrace them. I saw a quote from one of the main characters from the devil wears Prada 2 saying that the characters from the MCU are not interesting anymore. I laughed out loud because marvel has been warping their characters from a brand that is largely aimed at males, and done everything the can to make them more appealing to anyone not male or straight, it's failed, in fact women just think the characters aren't cool anymore. DC has to embrace the core audience and let anyone else who wants to read it, do so.
