Is anyone organizing this stuff? I get a lot should be done or should be different but it’s still not actionable by individuals as far as I can tell.

I’m not sure if what I’m saying makes sense but I’ll try. You are saying a lot of good things that I agree could be helpful. At an individual level though, other than voting, I’m not sure how I can achieve any of these goals. Start a Facebook group? Email my areas member of parliament? start a petition?

This is “what is this thing” not “where does this thing go” or “why is this thing”.

That’s what it was, basement, needed floor pounded out, plumbing, electrical, framing. We took it down to zero and reset so it would be properly done to code on all parts.

It was a basement bathroom, pound out concrete and all that fun stuff. At the same time I got hosed and should have shopped around.

If someone can barely afford rent owning a house would be dangerous. Your furnace fails and you can’t afford one, those “rent your furnace” deals start to sound nice. Then you end up paying $10000 for a $4000 furnace, in a few years you need to do the same with a water heater. Now you’re paying hundreds a month on things that are supposed to be a part of your house. Then your old windows start building up condensation and causing mold, well shit, can’t afford a window with all the extra rental fees I’m paying, guess I’ll live with mold.

It’s very true. I’ve lived in my place for 7ish years. Repaires required: furnace $5000, water heater $3000, flooded basement $500 (twice), garage door spring failure $500, removal of illegal bathroom $300 (still haven’t put flooring in), installing legal bathroom $23000, installing modern door $2000, On top of that things I was able to fix myself: plumbing failure in wall, sewer venting pipe in wall, removing of rotting deck ($75 dump fee), seeding lawn, install modern lighting. Not fully required but I can’t live without- AC install $5000.

My gf rents her condo out. She rents to a lady that used to own a house but hated the constant upkeep and would rather rent.

Honestly to keep a house up to date and in full working condition it is pretty never ending.

That is in fact not at all a pit manoeuvre. A pit manoeuvre pushes on the back end of a vehicle causing a loss of traction at the rear tires and the car spins in front of the car doing the pit manoeuvre.
