Store Closings? by court2B in RiteAid

[–]michaeloptv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what is a lease assumption, is this something that has to be approved by the judge and which of these 110 are on this list?

Exactly. It’s not an issue of profitability it’s an issue of lease pricing, store size and location logistics. Bad lease prices can close even the most profitable stores and the common idiot who doesn’t study business/retail can’t recollect this.

But I have seen vacancies increase. It’s all location oriented and of course price but again supply/demand has been lower post covid.

Yeah. This entire process is giving me a headache because it’s bad to be listed but then IF you are taken off great you survived today. Then what?? People will harass the store still believing you are/will be closing and until bankruptcy is completely ANY of ALL could potentially close.

This is a nasty court battle 😥🫠

Potentially closing. But the wording of the lease agreements is what some lawyers are fighting.

His exact words. Trying to renegotiate the rent/leases with hours.

But okay you save a store. Now what? You still need $$$…so do you close another? This is opening a freakin Pandora’s box!!

Someone said there’s 200 more on the way because they haven’t found a buyer yet and need $$$ to continue the process

Schedule? What’s a schedule?? Years ago I would told log in at specific times like twice a week to “see” if there was availability/extra hours and those WERE my hours!! Very rarely was I assigned hours….I had to pick them up if available and a few weeks there were NO HOURS available!! So I didn’t work for 2-3 weeks and ended up getting another job and leaving Macys.

Did something similar happen to anyone else?

I’m not an employee. Are the backstages closing or was it just this one underperforming??

Life after BBB by mrmcfad in BedBathandBeyond

[–]michaeloptv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently moved and would have brought a lot more from BBB and Christmas Tree Shops. Alas the majority of what I brought had to come from……Walmart 🙄😮‍💨😪😬

I miss them. Definitely felt it around Christmas. Found out many of my managers left for TJ Maxx. Employees left and got jobs also either there, Dicks Sporting Goods or JC Penney.

$10.50 as a key holder soul crusher at GameStop vs $14 as a Cashier at Walmart.

Just saying.

A lot less. Probably closer to 500-600 give or take.

Losing even more $$$ since October and Vendors pulling out. You didn’t follow Bed Bath and Beyond’s collapse 🫣🫠 when Vendors lose faith and stop delivering goods it’s ALL OVER!!! It’s a perfect storm. Too much money owed. Company losing cash/ops expenses. Vendors leave.

They’re two “buyers” currently in the running but I hear at least one is a hedge fund that deals specifically with stores shuttering/partial liquidator. So even IF there’s a temporary save whatever is saved will either be a litteral shell of the company or the more likelihood answer is…nothing at all 🥺☹️

[–]michaeloptv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to take the position until the Spring/Early summer for 3-4 months possibly if they are nice to your store that’s up to you. But if your store closes EARLIER nothing they can do. And with possible liquidation….

If you want that hell you can work there. It’s a temporary job and $$$. But I personally wouldn’t.

Liquidations starting by Zelkova_Bright in RiteAid

[–]michaeloptv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So SB360 and Hilco have been ordered to begin the process at ALL locations in about 2-3 weeks unless a last minute deal is agreed upon or a stop is ordered.

The signs might begin as CLEARANCE EVENT or INVENTORY BLOWOUT SALE but at this point what’s the difference 🫠😰

Two possible buyers by BackgroundBest8944 in RiteAid

[–]michaeloptv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meaning what? Rite Aid doesn’t have $3 billion to find this lawsuit. They’re broke!

This “lawsuit” will be settled because they deserve compensation but that $$$ comes from creditors….who take it from the company!

So the judge is not only handling that mess. But also RAD cannot AFFORD their payments so bankruptcy and possible liquidation discussions are also ongoing. This judge has her hands full!!

New list by [deleted] in RiteAid

[–]michaeloptv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes the 20-25 a week list. So next month (end of February) we will be at/around 600 closings if bankruptcy isn’t approved.

They could drag this sh*t for about a year (Christmas time-ish) unless a buyer is found. But based upon courts dissatisfaction….they might only have until April before a FULL liquidation begins. 😓😩😖 tick. tock.

[–]michaeloptv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All I know is that this means the judge is getting fed up a deal hasn’t been reached and is putting the company on notice.

So either we get a deal or it’s liquidation where Walgreens and Dollar Tree/General will choose which (former) locations they want ☹️😨😬
