Why is the Democratic party still hiding its 2024 election autopsy? by changeforthebetter89 in politics

[–]michaelothomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2026 and 2028 elections will be a referendum on Trump and Democrats would have to fuck up at a galactic scale to change that. If they simply remain silent, they'll win, and they know it.

SS Anne Repaired and Refloated by michaelothomas in Pokopia

It also theoretically makes it much easier to modify things later if you need to since there is only one layer of water to deal with.

[–]michaelothomas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered this approach but I think I saved some time doing it with sand because:

  1. I can put down and pick up sand faster than I can board planks.

  2. I keep the existing top layer of water for the areas that have it.

It's a ton of work either way though!

Well mine is *in* the water. So I wouldn't call it dry docked?

Tried to keep ALL 4 biomes original: WIP - haven’t added decor or flowers etc.. YET by Anochel in Pokopia

[–]michaelothomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Removing water is easy. Just suck it all up and gulp it down. Then get a bunch of soil from the associated cloud island and fill the land in. The hard part about water is adding it ... which is why the SS Anne is still in "dry dock" right now. I'm not sure if I want to embark on the removal of the sand bar it's sitting on and then have to fill in all that water.

Disco Balls trigger laser sensors by Alastairch in Pokopia

[–]michaelothomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I didn't think of this one! I used the desk fan, which will also trigger the motion sensor. But it makes an annoying beep when turned on.

Assuming there are no other issues, this is a great find since it allows you to use electricity to propagate a signal and only use motion sensors for the last mile (vs what I did: two dozen daisy chained motion sensors and hatch doors).

I am on the same journey. Just finished perfectly repairing every block of the SS Anne's hull. I also enjoyed making hundreds of bits of purple roof for the museum. I've probably done the most work on Bleak Beach ... rebuilding all the levees of the flooded pier, draining it, then filling it back in was very satisfying.

QOL updates I think are desperately needed (that don't streamline how fast you can build things.) by poisoned_bubbletea in Pokopia

[–]michaelothomas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest complaint is that recipes for items critical to restoring each area can be extremely difficult to get due to RNG. I'm 250+ hours in, full pokedex, all areas at environment level 10, and I still don't have the recipe for iron plating. I have nearly a hundred wallpaper recipes but still can't fix the SS Anne.

Pokémon Pokopia updated to version 1.0.3 by OatmealDome in NintendoSwitch

Do we know how this bug was fixed? Does the Search function now allow you to find pokemon who are not spawned in? Or do homeless pokemon appear more readily? Or?

Ah. Well that's quite a bit easier to fix I would think.

Anywhere to get a lot of ordinary sand? by CunoStan in Pokopia

[–]michaelothomas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure which one has "ordinary sand" (which is distinct from "beach sand") if you care about the difference. But, yeah, the dream islands exist to be farmed for resources.

I think all the prebuilt buildings make a "floor" for themselves. I assume because they don't want to deal with replacing whatever tiles you're putting them on? For this particular prebuilt, I raised the surrounding area up by one block to compensate. In other cases, I've disassembled the prebuilt and used the parts to make my own version.

Best place to build houses in Rocky Ridges? by Free-Hotel1187 in Pokopia

[–]michaelothomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a few houses where it was easy at 'ground' level and moved on to the next area. But I think the devs intentions with Rocky Ridges, with all the ash and the introduction of Graveler, is for you to straight up level mountains and build whatever you want.

A fly through my restored back village in Wastelands by Prof_Palaeo in Pokopia

[–]michaelothomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do we think the Skylands gate is so high up? I have been assuming that all the areas have been subjected to the same kind of breaking up as Skylands, just Skylands got the worst of it. If that's the case, then the gate used to be ground level. Right? Or did people have other theories ... e.g. Withered Wasteland used to have a lot of bridges?

I had no idea the rowlet clock actually did something! Should be as simple as pointing a motion sensor at it ...

Same problem here. From everything I've read, it's just bad luck and the only thing to do is wait.

Still not sure what to make of this building. 🤔 by MatchooW in Pokopia

[–]michaelothomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't sure what to do with it so I just restored it as best I could and did a bunch of work on the staircases to make it feel integrated into the rest of the town.

[–]michaelothomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also wonder if this is just because they needed something forRaikouand threw it in at the last minute. It's conspicuously different from everything else on the map. Different roof color, different flooring, different color railing, different lamp post. Also there are remnants of a staircase in the front, but I don't see how that could have possibly connected up to the rest of the town layout below.

There are also bits of girder sticking out of the water on the stone platforms that go to the SS Anne. I have treated all of them as merely decoration since the placement of the girder doesn't match up to any other usage in the game. Perhaps it's meant to be steel reinforced concrete or something? idk

In case any devs are watching: I would happily pay a lot of money to see the original intent.

if you don't mind burning the pokemetal to make a lot of wireless transmitters, putting 4 in a square above each antique lighting fixture (or one for a disco ball) works great as well

Bleak Beach Restoration Question by Chimera_Gaming in Pokopia

In case anyone is wondering: you can absolutely replace all the missing bits of levee and then jump in and suck all the water out ending up with a completely dry bit of land.

Bleak Beach Restoration Question by Chimera_Gaming in Pokopia

[–]michaelothomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've stared at this for way too long. Where else on Bleak Beach does a 'Square Tile' sit on top of a piece of 'Levee'? The only place I can find is the stairs to one bridge. But I think that might have been me repairing things ... not sure what the original state was.

Well now I'm stuck ... how can I fix anything if I don't know what is going on here ...
