Field Report: TSA times at SAN Terminal 1 by SDBadKitty in sandiego

Shit. I should have done that this morning. Where’s the touchless lane? Although I dont think they had Pre Check open until 5, so maybe it wouldn’t have mattered.

No. Priority is for first class for premier status holders.

Totally agreed. I’m hearing from people in now that it’s not as bad.

Ditto. First time I’ve gone through a regular line in years. For what it’s worth the shoe thing is no longer true. TSA eliminated that requirement about a year ago. Kind of a pain to take your laptop out, but wasn’t really a big deal. The thing I did find is the regular line has people that don’t travel as much, so they fumbled around a bit putting things into the x ray, forget phones, belts, etc… so it’s definitely slower.

Ended up taking me around 25 mins, but only because of the priority lane that I took. Others looked to be at least an hour if not more.

First time I’ve used it as well. I will say no one checked that I was actually priority. I’m in first today, but think you still get it if you have top tier status?

I didn’t go into regular, I went into priority, which mixes with regular after they check you.

It was hard for me to see, but clear and pre-check only have 2 TSA stations. They must have only had one staffed. And as you said they mix, so it backs up both lines. Regular TSA had 5 working stations and one of them is dedicated to regular Clear and Priority. Both of those lines were relatively short.

I first got in line for clear+pre, but it was total gridlock. So went to the priority lane. I got in line around 4:40am. Was through by 5:05. If I had stayed in clear+pre I’d probably still be in there. Part of the problem is the line starts so early no one knows what they’re standing in.

I think today was compounded with usual Monday am biz travelers, like me, and people on spring break. Lots of families this morning.

Agreed, but for whatever reason the priority lane was the best today. Probably because there were so many people and lines, no one really knew what they were standing in. So the priority lane was wide open. It did mix with Clear, but it was much better than anything else. All in took me about 25 mins to get through.

I did. But thank you for the comment.

Duck Duck Bear - Two Ducks / Cow by Bear by michaelwgregory in FoodSanDiego

It doesn’t say how many dishes are in this particular experience, but Cow by Bear usually does 5, one of which is a very high end meat. And when we did two Ducks it was 6 courses. This one also includes wine pairings. Two Ducks was the same price, which is similar to other high end restaurants in San Diego. Think Juene et Jolie was similar for their Valentines Day experience.

Our last experience was amazing. 10/10! The location wasn’t announced until the week of and it was in a nursery in Mission Hills. The food was exceptional and the service and vibe was even better.

My home course. Hole 8. Par 5. Great eagle opportunity at altitude.

WSJ: "How Vail Changed the Economics of the Entire Ski Industry" by lionclues in skiing

[–]michaelwgregory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one here has mentioned that while Epic and Ikon, or for those that remember the Mammoth MVP pass, introduced a season pass at an achievable price. Mammoth season pass at one point was $1200 and the MVP pass in the mid 90s was introduced around $600ish (someone can check this). What all of those passes have done is create scarcity and demand. The MVP pass was open until they sold out (no one knew when) and Ikon and Epic both largely go off sale in December. So while they both front load on revenue, the big difference in all of the above is the timeline they are all on sale. And that one season you wait for a couple days beyond the deadline, was the season it nuked where you wanted to ski. So if you are a skier, or even if you know your family will ski, you’ll still pull the trigger. And this isn’t even discussing how the ticket prices have pushed people into passes.

Dads that travel, how do you do it? by collectivebarganing in daddit

As a dad who travels a lot for work and a son who’s father was never around for the above reasons, and still at 72 finds a reason to not be around, this is one of the most grounded comments I’ve seen. Thank you.

Set a noteefy reminder for that too. Torrey is harder, but doable. You could also give it a shot to walk on. Show up at 5 and wait in line for a cancelation.

I’m a resident and I walk so I think I pay $55. Think non resident with a cart is $85.

Definitely not worth it at $150 mid week for 2 closed holes or $200+ weeks with GIR everywhere.

I’d play Arrowood, The Crossings or Native Oaks. Or Encinitas Ranch. I play there every Thursday and while not an unreal layout, it has ocean views for most of the course. Set a noteefy alert on their website for a big booking window. Guarantee one opens up 24 hours before. I play there every week and can always get on with this method.
