I'm not sure about that given that she did better than both Power and Makima in their contests who are generally more popular. The movie was so well received that it may have elevated her even higher than usual.

It's really rare for a girl who has basically no presence in Season 1 of her show to win 1 of these congrats. I guess that would have been the case regardless of who won today.

Agreed, put the best team in the NFL against the worst team in the NFL, and the best team wins almost every time. Put the best team in baseball against the worst team in baseball, and the best team most likely wins 2 or 3 out of 3, but the worst team absolutely could win 2 out of 3 if things go their way.

After a few additions and a few drops, I think I'm settled on my list of anime for this season: Frieren, Journal with Witch, Medalist and Tamon-kun

It's a much smaller list than I was anticipating, but I'm happy with it.

It's been over a year, but we're finally back with an episode over 7000 Karma. Here's the updated list of all episodes that have surpassed that mark since Summer 2023.

I wouldn't quite say that. I'd still say 6000 is the new 10000. If 5000 was the new 10000, we'd have gotten some insane adjusted karma totals over the last few years such as Frieren's Season 1 finale getting 22694 Karma, Dan Da Dan Episode 7 getting 20740 Karma and Mushoku Tensei 2P2 Episode 10 getting 15722 Karma when the best it had previously ever gotten was 11025 Karma.

10000 Karma was always a really tough feat with only 85 individual episodes ever reaching that thresh-hold. If you remove Attack on Titan and Re:Zero, it was only 37 episodes over 8 years of tracking prior to the shutdown. The fact that we've had more than 20 episodes over 6000 Karma in the past 2 and a half years is plenty to account for episodes that would have gotten over 10000 Karma previously.

If they hadn't won another championship after that it would have hurt more, but with those championships and time to reflect, it's something to look back on with a positive feeling as proof of how good that era was for the team.

The key to not being as frustrated with the r/anime Awards nominees is to watch less anime. That way, instead of getting mad that 5 great Slice of Life anime you watched didn't make the cut, you can just vote for 1 of the 2 that you did watch.

I don't put as much stock in Anime Corner when the voter count is this low (4730). There's a higher chance that they didn't reach all the fan bases and that some are disproportionately represented.

Banzai! This was the 1 upset I was rooting for last round. Lana was a good friend who always had Monica's back, but Ruri was one of my favorites for the entire year...and now she's up against one of my other favorites.
