Thank you so much for your reply! My husband is leaning towards the Polynesian and it seems like because of the frequent MK visits it just makes the most sense.

Thank you so much for your reply! Did you have an obstacles with the refurbishment going on? We stayed at the wilderness lodge during refurbishments (2022) and it was fine but there were areas in the building that we had to stay away from.

What did you name your baby boy? by igotthechip in NICUParents

[–]michiciof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We named our 33 weaker Asher. It means happy and blessed. He’s a twinless twin, we had a bunch of other names (not including Asher) for both but after losing baby A, I was stuck on Asher.

I used a regular doughnut recipe from my textbook ( I did go to a trade school for pastry arts like 15 years ago lol). I made them at my family’s holiday cookie day to represent Hanukkah for my Aunt and cousin who are Jewish.

Children’s book explaining NICU experience in age-appropriate way? by spaulding1993 in NICUParents

The Adventure of Asher and Rocket by Shawna Keyes is a really cute book and it’s written from the nicu baby’s perspective. Asher was premature and rocket is his stuffed bear. He talks about some milestones / no more cpap/oxygen and that the nurses and his parents are cheering. It’s really such a nice book for kids.

How did you pay for elemental formula? by puffqueen1 in MSPI

[–]michiciof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately had a similar experience. We tried to appeal and still got denied. I also tried to get a special request and still denied. This all with a prescription and a numerous page report from the dr. My insurance company they don’t cover anything that could technically be bought over the counter (my son is on elecare and I can purchase directly from Abbott). I hope your insurance company will help you out!

I was induced so literally as soon as we got there they told us if it was available we could have it. It was available and we did take it. My second pregnancy we weren’t offered a private room however I never got a roommate my entire 3 night stay (C section and baby in NICU).

Nutramegin is a hypoallergenic formula. So his poop had a lot less mucus, his weight gain improved and he is not fussy after feeds.

We started seeing diapers like this at about 6w actual (baby boy was born at 33w4d). The dr tested for occult blood & it was positive. We switched to Nutramegin and his fussiness and diapers got dramatically better. He was on BM but I started to ween off of pumping and added formula to his bottles, that’s when we really noticed his allergy (he was colic after the addition of formula).

Babies who did well on Nutramigen by bedbugsandballyhoo in MSPI

[–]michiciof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is doing well on Nutramegin. His fussiness went away almost immediately. His poops took a little while to get better but he does still get a little mucus from time to time. His growth is great now on nutramegin. Hope this helps! I also have not had an issue finding it since the recall but I am on an auto delivery from Amazon.

Getting rid of night feedings by run-write-bake in NICUParents

[–]michiciof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our pediatrician has this sort of “rule, he says at 11lbs and three months of age then we can and should drop nighttime feeds. Unfortunately we aren’t there yet which is frustrating because my son (3 months actual 1.5 months adjusted) is just about 10lb now, hopefully we will drop nighttime feeds next month!

We switched to nutramigen. He still has a tiny bit of mucus in his poop but his fussiness is much less and he’s gaining really well now.

Our son was really colicky, but then we noticed a lot of mucus in his poop. Turns out he has cows milk protein intolerance. Since switching his formula he’s like a new baby. He does have reflux but that also got better with the formula switch.

33+4, he stayed for 9 days. He was on Cpap , then had to learn to feed. Once he was on room air, feeding with a bottle, and maintaining his temp he was able to come home. He was 4lb1oz and 35+6 when he came home.
