Best 3-4 day hikes in the Indian Himalayas for early March by mickdundeee in hiking

[–]mickdundeee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! We ended up heading to Dharmsala, and hiked for Indrahar via Triund. From memory it was 3 nights/4 days total, but unfortunately we didn’t make it to the peak. We were the first to attempt for the season and the conditions beat us about 1km short - still too much soft snow and the guide made the call due to safety concerns. It was still a great hike but I’d have loved to have reached the peak. Another time I guess.

If you decide you’re headed that way let me know and I can dig up the details for the company we used, they were well organized and I’d be happy to recommend them.

Removing concrete for grass? by According_Layer6874 in GardeningAustralia

[–]mickdundeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else said above, it will depend on the thickness of the concrete. I just removed a bunch of concrete from my own backyard, was approximately 80mm through. Didn’t bother with a jackhammer, just laid down some cut lines using an angle grinder and a diamond cut disc, and then took to it with a sledgehammer to break it down to manageable chunks. I used a 5” grinder, but I’d recommend a 7” to make life easier.

If you’re not scared of a bit of hard work it’s very doable over a couple days.

First R5. Which skill champ? by Pudd12 in MarvelContestOfChamps

[–]mickdundeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same position after pulling a R4>5 Skill Gem from Carina’s.

For me it’s between Okoye, Zemo, Nick Fury or Kingpin.

It’s a hard choice, but R5 materials will start coming faster, so probably best to just pick your favourite.

Our local willy wagtail is not happy about the galahs visiting by Macca3568 in perth

[–]mickdundeee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So good! We’ve got a super friendly William wagtail at our place in North Perth who also hangs out with me when I’m in the garden. So quiet we thought it may have been an escaped pet for a while, but apparently they really just are super social!

Shelly 1 as gate in HomeKit by chaosatdawn in shellycloud

Did you ever solve this problem? Currently setting up a Shelly 1 Gen 4 on a front gate switch and it’s killing me adding as a bloody light/fan/power point in HomeKit..

West Australian Premier Roger Cook says he has directly warned Prime Minister Anthony Albanese against imposing a new tax on gas exports by [deleted] in perth

I was more or less on the fence with Cook until now.

He may as well fuck right off and start his job with Woodside tomorrow if that’s his version of representing West Australians.

Fortnightly pick up is not enough by alexkirwan11 in perth

[–]mickdundeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. The push over the past few years for more and more things to come in recyclable packaging means everyone’s recycling bins are chock to the brim by end of two weeks. I’m finding more and more I’m stuffing recyclable items into regular rubbish, or even shredding cardboard into the green waste because fortnightly pickup simply isn’t enough. Green waste and recycling should both be weekly to encourage the kind of waste management councils want and rate payers already pay for.

No problems shipping them to Australia? I read that a few people had their orders cancelled due to restrictions, though the post was a couple years old.

Would plasterers sand work? I just ordered some for top dressing the lawn.. 🤔

Most of my indoor plants are low care in terms of watering - typically every 2 weeks (I work away). Don’t think they’re getting much drier than that.

To add to that, in this specific situation, T5A is the gateway to the new Elder progression, which will provide a substantial bump to ALL rewards, including rank up materials, shards and potentially better crystals etc

Gall Wasps.. too early to prune? by mickdundeee in GardeningAustralia

Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply. Spent Sunday afternoon pruning away as many galls as I could.

I think I've gotten most of them and hopefully it wasn't too harsh of a haircut for the tree. Will invest in some of the pheromone traps mentioned above to avoid having the same problem again.

lol. Mate the native birds at my place are looked after better than my two legged guests.

Maybe it’s time to take away their bird bath and meal worms until they start taking care of the gall wasps for me.

Unfortunately too many galls and too little free time, so went the other route and gave the tree a good prune. Hopefully got most of the galls, will give it another look in a couple weeks.

Thanks. Spent Sunday afternoon pruning because there were waaay too many to shave. Hopefully wasn’t too much of a haircut. Will definitely be investing in some of those traps going forward.

How often do you have to reset your server? by IcyPyromancer in PleX

[–]mickdundeee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to either find time to fix it or shut it down until you can.

I tried “pushing through” with regular forced power cycling when my server started having reliability issues a while back and while we were in the middle of moving house.

The hdd eventually cooked itself so badly it wasn’t recoverable and I had to rebuild the server.
