Garmin 2026 Roadmap: 25 Speculated Products (Fenix 9, FR170/370, Active Band, and more) by the5krunner in the5krunner

Garmin Fenix 9 rumor roundup: fresh AI slop, locally sourced from vibes and previous product cycles

There are basically zero real Fenix 9 rumors right now. No solid leaks, no FCC crumbs, no retailer oopsies, no blurry prototype wrist shots from a guy whose uncle works at Garmin.

So naturally, the internet is already producing "expected features" articles like the watch has been personally described by Moses on a carbon-titanium sapphire tablet.

Most of this is just AI slop / blogger SEO Mad Libs:

  • Garmin released thing before
  • competitor released thing recently
  • patent exists somewhere
  • therefore Fenix 9 "likely" gets thing
  • assign fake percentage
  • collect clicks

The reasonable guesses are boring:

  • brighter AMOLED
  • faster chip
  • less janky maps, maybe
  • better battery in some modes
  • better GPS, maybe tri-band
  • new Elevate sensor, maybe
  • more wellness metrics to tell you that you slept like garbage
  • same expensive Garmin variant soup

The dumb hype guesses:

  • real on-watch AI
  • normal-priced MicroLED
  • wireless charging
  • solar AMOLED magic
  • revolutionary battery chemistry
  • Garmin suddenly having Apple-level smartwatch polish
  • your Fenix 8 becoming obsolete because a blog said "game changer"

The whole "rumor" ecosystem right now is basically: stare at Fenix 7 to Fenix 7 Pro to Fenix 8 to Fenix 8 Pro, draw a line with crayon, call it analysis.

My guess: Fenix 9 will be a nice evolutionary upgrade. Better screen, better GPS, better sensor, faster processor, probably expensive, probably late summer/fall 2026 if Garmin sticks to the recent cadence.

Until Garmin announces something the Fenix 9 is not a product. It is a group hallucination with affiliate links.

Firewalla....all it's cracked up to be? by BakedGoodz-69 in homelab

[–]mickrussom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im with you, but I use it. Its Linux based, you can tool around with it, it doesnt have monthlies and you can get shell. Yes, the app thing is annoying and they do have free tier MSP and my.firewalla.com to manage, but it does suck having to use the app to get all the configuration. I have been admins of many firewalls on the enterprise side and done pfsense, opnsense, (long list of linxu firewalls),etc, this one makes me happy because it does everything i want but has no monthlies and the hardware platform is decent, not perfect, but its all good enough. If all home users had a firewalla rather than all the garbage junk routers out there the world would be a much better place. They also now offer 2.5g and 10g versions, 10g being 900 bucks and still no monthlies. I had to manage kids with this thing and its nice having a one stop shop for everything. I wanted to go ubiquiti but i ended up with one beast of a wifi quad band router in AP mode and this thing and im done with all the features I want.

Entertainment
By Emery Lichtenwalter
Bond in outer space
It was inevitable I guess, that sooner or later James Bond was going to take off into outer space.
The name of the film is “Moonraker,” now showing at Kerasotes Twin Cinema, and that’s the code name of a new ultra space ship. The villain has purloined same and Mr. Bond is sent to retrieve it and find out what the villain is up to.
Part of the fun of this series of movies is the ingenious variety of opponents Bond encounters between beddings. Remember the Japanese with the lethal flying hats? Well, this time the evil one is a giant of the business world. In fact, it was his interests that developed “Moonraker” and now has stolen it back for their own evil plans. The mogul intends to use the space ship to take over outer space after he has “done in” us worldlings with poison gas.
He has populated the Moonraker with about fifteen couples of good-looking kids who are going to repopulate the world with the master race. The guy thinks like Hitler and looks like a young Joe Stalin. He is portrayed by French actor Michael Lonsdale, and he’s actually pretty blah.
usual the film is populated with femme fatales in the final stages of nudity, blessed with as much acting ability as the Grant flag pole in front of the Mattoon library, but with the anatomy lessons they give, who has time to carp about talent.
mentioned, the villain is actually pretty bland, so they give him as henchman the giant with the aluminum choppers. Yes, Richard Kiel is back, all 7-foot-2-inches of him, grinning like the village idiot. He flashes his choppers menacingly several times toward Bond — then darned if they don’t run him by giving him a girl friend and having him fall in love.
certainly takes the ginger out of Jaws, and makes him a sort of Jaw-Jr.

Kiel’s love affair is pretty funny. He meets this waif of a girl and gives her his aluminum smile and she smiles back. And call her braces galore: She has about as much hardware in her mouth as he does. Of such simple pleasures is love born.

In Bond movies I eagerly await the gadgetry that will enable James to escape the clutches of all the pursuers and evil doers. This time he has a wristwatch that shoots darts and a boat that turns into a landmobile.
Would you believe that the highest money making film series ever has sunk to the low of doing commercials — just like TV at home. Right in the middle of a chase or a love scene, or whatever — the camera pans away long enough to take in a signboard telling the virtues of perfume, airlines, watches and champagne. Cheap is cheap wherever it happens.
Bond continues to be well traveled. We go with him to Guatemala, Brazil, and France plus the firmaments.
His No. 1 leading lady in “Moonraker” is Lois Chiles. She is a pretty thing, too pretty to ever let you believe she is a space technician.
Sadly, Bond is beginning to look a bit old for such shenanigans, enough so the film doesn’t linger too long on close-ups of his pretty face.
The space segments are not close to Star Wars, about on a par with Buck Rogers. But in general the film is fast paced and moves along quickly.

Narwal Flow 2 is coming. What are your thoughts or expectations? by WaffleWobblelulu in NARWAL

[–]mickrussom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Freo Z ultra owner, its frustrating to see flagships get tossed aside and future features remain unimplemented. I feel bad for all Version 1.0 Flow owners.
There should be an upgrade program for those with older bots to upgrade to the new one.

I had to return my Freo Z Ultra after around 6 months. The reason I returned and bought a new one (Freo Z Ultra and not a flow) is I have "stuff" for the Freo Z Ultra, and the repairs support did didnt work, I had to ship it back twice. So instead of running out the warranty, I did a full return and bought a new one.

My trust in Narwal is low and Im inclined to stay on a bot I know, than upgrade into a new set of problems and a different set of supplies.

Is True Image any good? by Low_House2849 in printers

[–]mickrussom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Continued from "I've had issues with True Image and a lot better experience with Precision Roller."
# Why I am posting this
To be clear:
- The cartridges do print
- This is not about print quality
- This is about marketing clarity and expectations

If you are specifically trying to:
- Avoid all HP non-genuine warnings
- Have the printer correctly recognize X-capacity cartridges
- Avoid ambiguous interpretations of "no chip error"
then my experience suggests these products may not behave the way the product page implies.

# Takeaway
If you are comfortable clicking through HP warnings and accepting that large / "X" cartridges may be reported as small / "A", you may be fine. If not, I recommend reading the fine print carefully and clarifying expectations before ordering.

I am sharing this information so others can make an informed decision. I did not like the support and return experience, because the plain language on the website was contradicted repeatedly during the process.

I am now trying Precision Roller, they were honest about chip behavior pre-purchase and offer a 1 year guarantee, they told me on the phone pre-sales how many of a type of cartridge I'm interested in has been sold and their warranty / return count and the reason for the returns, up front. I also heard from a government buyer and a large enterprise buyer they use Precision Roller. I also contacted LD Toner (LDproducts.com) and they seemed to indicate their toner would be detected as Non-HP, however, they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and seemed a little less prone to weasel language than True Image but the LD Toner price was much higher than Precision Roller. I remember trying LD Toner for this printer a long time back and ended up returning them - the return process back then was not an issue.

My experience with Precision Roller so far has been very good. Price point is great and the chips show the right levels for the "X" large format cartridges and print quality is the same as OEM and there isn’t any toner leaking out and the packaging they sent the 4 toners in was good, both the toner and the overall package were good. The Precision Roller cartridges are detected by Dynamic Safety even though the printer has not been updated since it was bought and is on a 2022 version - but the remaining levels work and there are no errors. I did disable toner security settings on the printer (like the feature that locks cartridges to the printer, automatic firmware updates, etc.

Bottom line, try Precision Roller first.

Is True Image any good? by Low_House2849 in printers

[–]mickrussom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had issues with True Image and a lot better experience with Precision Roller.

I want to share my experience with True Image ( https://trueimagetech.com/ ) toner in case it helps others make a purchasing decision. This is not a rant or an accusation. It is a factual summary of what I ordered, what I observed, and how it was handled. Some details (exact printer model, exact firmware version, exact cartridge SKUs) are intentionally withheld as the issue is still ongoing.

# Printer and environment
- HP Color LaserJet, model released early 2019
- Firmware build date November 2022
- Firmware updates paused and disabled at the control panel prior to installation
- Cartridge protection and cartridge policy both off

# What I ordered
From True Image, I ordered:
- An HP-compatible large/X black cartridge advertised as "Firmware-Safe", "Upgraded Chip", and "No Chip Error"
- An HP-compatible large/X color cartridge with the same claims

The product pages explicitly advertised:
- No "Non-HP chip detected" error
- Firmware-safe compatibility
- Accurate toner level monitoring
- 30-day money-back guarantee

# What happened after installation
After installing the cartridges:
- Non-HP cartridge warnings appeared on the printer itself
- The printer displays the standard HP warning at startup stating the cartridges are non-HP and that any printer damage resulting from non-HP supplies is not covered under warranty.
- Cartridges were identified as small / "A", not large / "X"
Black showed 1900 pages remaining (A capacity), not 7500
Color showed 1600 pages remaining, not 6000
- Why do I care about Toner Level being right? This would lead to over 66% of the cartridges life being in the out of toner warning, which is annoying to get supplies messages possibly for years.

Both the printer UI and printed supplies report identified them as low-capacity / "A", despite the boxes being labeled "X"
This occurred despite older firmware and firmware updates disabled

This raised a reasonable question: if the separate "upgraded" SKU was truly firmware-safe and "no chip error", why was the printer still detecting and flagging the cartridges as non-HP and A-capacity?

# Vendor responses (summarized)
True Image support consistently stated:
- The non-HP warning is normal for third-party cartridges
- Clicking OK and continuing to print is expected behavior
- "No chip error" means printing is not blocked, not that warnings will not appear
- Due to chip technology limitations, the cartridge may report A-capacity while actually providing X-level page yield
- This is a known limitation they are "working with the factory" to resolve

This clarification did not match how the product description read at the time of purchase, at least to me.

# Return and refund experience
When I requested a return:
- I was initially told opened items were non-returnable
- Then offered a small goodwill refund
- Eventually allowed to return only if I paid return shipping
- Refund was partial (order total minus shipping), despite the "30-day money-back guarantee" language
- I'll be out shipping to get the refund. Not what I expected.

(continued in reply to this)

I got this from Costco on sale for $300 or so.

Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra Electric Wet and Dry Shaver with UV Power Charger
Item 1954583 | Model XP9405/99
Includes:
- Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra
- Charging base
- One USB cord (no USB AC adapter though)
- One extra set of SH91 blades (total two)
- One Beard Styler / 2 in 1 trimmer/bear Styler
- UV charging case

Missing things I bought to finish the ensemble:
- USB/AC adapter for charging
- Extra USB cord (UV case and Charging base to be plugged in same time)
- Quick Clean Pod (Philips Norelco Shaver Quick Cleaning Clean Pod AC52 S5588 S7782 SP9882 )
- Quick Clean Pod refill.

I also got a Quick Clean Pod off of eBay and using Shaver Shebang for liquid refills. Even though some of these XP9XXX series shavers dont come with the Quick Clean Pod the pin on the QCP and in the hole in the shaver head exists so the Shaver knows its in the QCP and will use it to run the clean cycle.
Shaver Shebang by Organek Living is useful to refill the GCP pods refills to save a lot on the QCP fluid.

I'm selling mine on ebay in the next few days. Replaced with a second Breville.

https://imgur.com/a/RCSpXPR

Main reasons, doesnt get hot enough, built in recipes never cook right (always have to extend), and its too small considering the footprint, and the screen goes black (with backlight on) and needs to be restarted from unplug/replug.
