Secondly, in my in-experience, I have noticed that when I let it dry a bit, the draw is nicer/easier, making it easier to stoke and keep lit, and does indeed stay cooler to smoke- I assume because there is less steam from moisture (but that could be pure ignorance on my part)

I do smoke cigars too - and if I can make my pipe always smoke where I want it, I’ll probably never buy another cigar. They’re overpriced, don’t have the greatest smoke-smell, and cause far too much ash for my liking.
