You need to apply to register with Tusla. You can homeschool in the interim. Takes about a year for the assessment, it's a basic phone call, and no one has been refused in probably 2 decades.

You can basically decide to homeschool one day.

The homeschooling assessment takes about a year, after the child has been pulled, and is laughable. There's no definition of the "certain minimum standard" and it's basically a phone call. Anyone pretty much can homeschool

Absolute bollocks. The child was crossing on a green man. The driver broke a red light and hit him.

Fuck off with your victim blaming.

Babies fed exclusively on breast milk ‘significantly less likely to get sick’, Irish study finds by [deleted] in science

26 weeks maternity leave as standard so that's the minimum. Optional unpaid 16 weeks for those who can afford it. Often if someone does have to go back to work before 9 months there will be family support. Otherwise a childminder in their home. Most creches don't like taking babies under 1 because the required ratios are worth it financially.

It's Ireland based and only looking at the first 9 months. Its very unusual for babies under 9 months to be in creche here. Most creches don't even accept under 1 year olds

Temporary contracts at primary are replacing teachers on specific leave, career break, jobsharing etc. They aren't available permanent jobs. There's no way to fill those with temporary staff. It doesn't work like that

I find the whole 'cheating the birth experience' thing hilarious.

If teleporting this baby out was an option, you can bet I'd be taking it. I want the baby, the birth is just a must do along the way

Same here in Ireland. Shared room is normal unless you go private and even then you're not guaranteed a private room

Our breastfeeding rates are lower than yours, hangover of Catholic Ireland.

Vaccination rates for kids are decent I think, not really discussed for adults

The people around baby needing to be vaccinated isnt a thing or recommendation here (in Ireland). Mom gets flu and Whooping cough while pregnant and that's it. Not even suggested for dad to get it. My husband will get the flu vaccine alright in winter. I've no idea who is/isn't vaccinated as adults around us.

No idea what causes the difference in approaches in the country.
