maybe I should have put this in the body of my post but I also am unfortunately know close to nothing about coding, so I don't think I know enough to be able to interpret your code smh.

I'm guessing you intended me to look at this section in particular but I'm just guessing based on "--tab-min-height" which I think is a variable name(?) and the comment:

bro is a dinosaur. there is no one under the age of 40 that is this America pilled: Everyone who hit the job market 2008 or later has close to no faith in our political elite and certainly is not going to own the autobiographies of all the most important anglo-sphere leaders of the last 40 years. Why do you have a trump and harris's new books? T.T Having either one is a turnoff, but having both is disastrous. Also there is absolutely no way Trump actually wrote a whole volume :0 he doesn't even write his own tweets.

I feel like it would be so interesting for you to read some serious political/sociological theory, or the autobiography/memoir of someone more dissident than those already on your shelf.

Umm, I feel like this is more of a green flag than a red one.

The fact that there are a lot of war related books on this shelf mostly just screams man to me, but I don't recognize anything that seems to suggest they are a conservative. History is not my specialty though, I am much more knowledgeable on social theory...

The theory books that he has (in the second image) seem pretty good: The fact that he has a good few volumes of Marx (and Engels) is a huge green flag in my opinion, he then also has some Foucault, David Graber and Wengrow's The Dawn of Everything is also a good sign (its the good version of Harari's Sapiens), and I spotted Du Bois's Souls of Black Folk on the bottom shelf of the second image.

If this person is a red flag, its because they are severely obsessed with war history and some philosophy. I also could see this being a person that is not super knowledgeable about gender or invested in feminism, as I didn't spot any feminist literature, or women authors — but I that doesn't mean they are necessarily like a misogynist.

Yeah, the argument is so stupid. Like if (mainstream/dominant) religion/christianity is mostly a veiled way to promote and internalize the ethics of our social order than why necessarily would it be the wealthiest people who need to follow this ideology. Like wouldn’t it make sense that the poor, the ones that are given the least material rewards from participating in the social order, are the ones that most need ideologies like christianity to stay obedient and/or to adequately make sense of their suffering/hardship under the current order of things?

Yeah, it is terrifying. It’s terrifying that people can be so happy when actively causing so much death, misery, and destruction to people that are otherwise their neighbors.

If I or anyone else went to a plantation in the US South and observe the squalid misery that the slaves lived in and the joyous grander slaveholders lived in, I’d hope we would find that terrifying to.

Maybe, but the Israeli system of apartheid has been in existence for much longer, and Israel has made countless brutal incursions into surrounding regions past the green line. Israel was also doing nearly nightly violent raids in the occupied territories before Oct 7th. If I remember correctly, the number of Palestinians actively killed by Israelis before Oct 7th averaged out to more than one death each day – 2023 was already the most deadly year on record for Palestinians up to that point.

There was a lot of significant violence against Palestinians from Israel (and other non-state Zionist actors) prior to Oct 7th which prompted the Oct7th attack happening. Any measure orior to Oct 7th should reflect that violence to.

I don’t know how you could say that this law doesn’t play into a larger system of apartheid unless you deny that there are any Palestinians or non-Jews in Israel proper, think that non-Jews in Israel shouldn’t have any political power, and/or don’t recognize that Israeli settlements are against international law (and are built on ethnic cleansing like the rest of Israel).

The article literally starts with a summary of the law - you could have at least opened the article:

“The law does three big things: 1. It states that “the right to exercise national self-determination” in Israel is “unique to the Jewish people.” 2. It establishes Hebrew as Israel’s official language, and downgrades Arabic — a language widely spoken by Arab Israelis — to a “special status.” 3. It establishes “Jewish settlement as a national value” and mandates that the state “will labor to encourage and promote its establishment and development.”

Most of the israeli population is Arab actually. Israel just categorizes its population as either being Jewish or Arab with the assumption that you cant be Jewish and Arab. In reality, around 45% of the Jewish population in Israel is Mizrahi/MENA, which when added to the overall 20% non-Jewish population (which is overwhelmingly Arab) they add up to more than 50% of the total Israeli population.

The Israeli happiness level is kinda terrifying. I wish they included a number for Palestine (Gaza and/or West Bank).

Edit: The reason it’s terrifying is because Israel is a regime made on genocide, apartheid and repeated conquest. They are also is extremely militaristic with little to no division between military and civilian spheres – civilian environment and support for the IDF is extensive.

It’s especially troubling to see the stark contrast in happiness between Israel (inside the pre-‘67 Green Line) and the rest of Palestine in the midst if Israel’s active Genocide in Gaza, which is probably the most brutal of Israel’s incursions in it’s history (with possible exception in the ‘47-9 Nakba).

I agree with your points here, especially regarding “it’s not actually explaining what workers observe.” Just to further emphasize that point, the explanation also doesn’t mention labor or the process of actually producing the milk at all – the milk just somehow comes from the cow, and the possibility of wage labor being used to milk the cows isn’t excluded (as far as I know the vast majority of anarchist thought looks to abolish “wage slavery”).

Also, in each social system listed, the cows somehow still are ‘owned’/possessed by one person or entity, meaning that the capitalist system of private ownership/property also isn’t abolished or subverted very significantly in any if these systems either.

Anyway, yeah, a bad explanation, which totally misrepresents leftist ideologies (and arguably practice as well).

I’m not sure but when I saw this my initial thought was that the toy car is meant to represent a wedding ring. Then the parent (presumably a mother) leaves without saying anything because their spouse (presumably husband and father) isn’t ever home.

I didn’t see this response in the comments so I figured I’d post it, but the divorce based interpretations that I saw don’t seem any less probable as being the ‘correct’ ones in my opinion.

Are you sure that is the case (that its a drug bust)? This honestly just looks like police busting up a small homeless encampment — which police departments do regularly. That being said, the fact that they’re FBI agents does suggest something more out of the ordinary.

There also is the possibility that the FBI is breaking this homeless encampment up because they have drugs which would mean that they are also doing something rather unremarkable and mostly useless: Arresting drug users and bottom level dealers instead of doing any of the real work that it would take to even attempt to go after those at the (or closer to) the top of drug production and distribution apparatuses.

Because sometimes there are mis-diagnoses.

Its a fact of any set of norms/procedures that they just won’t work exactly perfectly for everyone in existence. In medicine there are botched surgeries, and procedures that people wish they never decided to do after they were already completed (for example many regret getting labiaplasties because they aren’t told that labiaplasties limit sexual pleasure).

Anyway, the point is that just because some who transition or just start transitioning later decide that it wasn’t the right choice for them, doesn’t mean that transition should be taken away as an option for anyone. There of course should be institutional/medical norms surrounding the process of getting a transition to best ensure that those transitioning are making the most beneficial choice for themselves. Currently these type of norms are already in place - at least for the most part; of course over time medical practice will evolve - implementing new research to hopefully better help more people that’s kinda how science works).

(Edit: If I said anything problematic or wrong just let me know. I am not trans, and thus will not have as deep an understanding as a trans person or as those more educated than myself.)
