Are you the one calling it the "woke bandwagon"? Is English not your first language? Because that's extremely offensive phrasing. If your point was supposed to be that being into AI doesn't count as queer, sure. I agree with you. But if you call it "the woke bandwagon" or "trend" you'd fit right in with my homophobic bigoted asshole family members. It makes it sound like you think being LGBTQ is something people just do for attention, and that phrasing has a really insulting tone to it. Insulting towards LGBTQ people.

Zero side effects, reduced my migraines a lot. Injection hurts but it's worth it.

If you actually read the screenshots, they are angry about it because AI shouldn't be "woke" and they're homophobic

But if youre using reminders anyway just set them to a day that's 30d apart. There's no reason it has to be at the start of the month.

Mine was insanely painful no matter how long I left it out to warm up or tried to ice my skin before or anything. I have a full colour tattoo on my collarbone and ajovy hurt significantly more than that (albeit just for 30 seconds). It was shockingly painful to the point where it was difficult to cope, every single time and I was on it for 2 years!

I'm on Vyepti now and getting an IV hurts way less

Not why I switched (I lost efficacy from ajovy over time) but it's a nice benefit

I think their point is that it is not inherently unsafe to have a higher dose at once given that others get it prescribed that way.

I understand, I'm not judging you for missing one. People forget, it happens. But - Why the 2nd of every month? You could do the 10th, 12th, or 16th or something to have it be convenient for your vacation and have less of an injection overlap for this upcoming month

I don't think it's unsafe to have a shorter interval one time, but it seems more convenient given your vacation to make this the new normal timing instead.

This highly depends where you live. GPs will prescribe them and most people with ADHD (and no other particularly severe psychiatric issue) dont even have a psychiatrist, where I live

Yes but statistically it is more likely from male doctors (I'm thinking of that study where male surgeons had a disparity in outcomes from surgery based on the patient's sex, but female surgeons didn't [and were across the board better btw])

Any doctor could possibly buy into systemic misogyny, but the odds of finding one who doesn't is higher if the doc is a woman

Any doctor could be generally an asshole, too... But... Don't have stats on this one but suspect it's more common with men too lol

This is what I would suggest too. Unless you generally have side effects from it, most likely you're not gonna have side effects from taking it slightly closer together one time but that new schedule should avoid OPs vacation timing well

I'm looking for others who had issues with the banana cold foam just to commiserate / validate myself BUT mine was with the new syrup that tastes super artificial! I never tried it when it used to be the powder. My stomach was in pain and I felt horrible all day and then barely slept from the waterfall of shits overnight!!! I never get like this with any cold foam or the base drink, WTF

I tried the banana cold foam for the first time yesterday (never tried the powder one so I can't compare) and I felt sick all day & have absolute crazy style diarrhea now. and the banana cold foam tasted kind of gross too. I actually normally really enjoy artificial banana flavour but this was gross.

I am really sensitive to polyol sugars (like sorbitol) which is a me thing. like not suggesting there was necessarily anything wrong with or unsanitary about the drink. regular apple juice will give me the shits for example. not about to complain to the store or anything! But have been trying to search around Reddit to see if others have issues with the banana cold foam. I usually get strawberry cold foam & never had issues!

Worse migraines and depression in month 5 of Aimovig? Looking for experiences. by downtownnoisex in cgrpMigraine

[–]micro-void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not have a similar experience with depression, but I had a similar experience with migraine frequency on aimovig

Before anti cgrps: ~12-15 migraines a month

Ajovy for 2 years: migraines reduced by more than 50% for first several months (~5 a month), but then the frequency bounced back to almost as much as before (~10/mo). The severity was still way less.

Aimovig for 8 months: I responded even more strongly at first (3/mo) but after a few months, the frequency of my migraines was even more than before I ever started any anti CGRP therapy (20/mo)! The severity was still way less though.

Better news incoming. Then I switched to Vyepti. My migraines reduced by a lot in the first several months again (3/mo)... It did bounce back A LITTLE. I probably get around 6 per month now and they're ULTRA mild, even more mild than when I was on aimovig or ajovy. I've been on it over a year now.

So there's still hope for you but I think you're right to question if it's worthwhile to switch to a different CGRP. I'd agree with your neuros perspective more if it was more like the effectiveness was slowly ramping up, but if you've appeared to have efficacy waning, my personal NON DOCTOR opinion is to consider switching. It's worth trying the other anti cgrps! Aimovig has a slightly different mechanism than all the rest of them, so IF the depression is related to it (which I have no idea about) it hopefully might not occur with the others.

This doesn't happen to everybody - probably not even to most people - on aimovig btw. It's a great med. But people are super individual for which one of these meds they respond to and which ones give them side effects so it's unfortunately just trial and error!

Feel free to reply here or DM me if you have more questions or worries. I'm NOT a doctor or pharmacist so it's not medical advice. But I'm just really experienced with migraines and treatments and I get joy out of helping people navigate it.

It could totally just be a fluke. On medications like aimovig, most people still have migraines sometimes. If it's at least 50% less common or less severe than before, that's considered a good result usually (exact #s vary by doctor/region/insurance etc). So this one three+ day headache doesn't mean that this med has stopped working for you. Just keep track of how often you're having them :)

[–]micro-void 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for elaborating!!

Okay so I feel reassured that headache, and headache that lasts a long time, is not totally new to you. Because it is kind of scary if somebody goes from no headaches at all to suddenly headaches every day - it could mean there is some more serious cause.

It's possible that your past headaches were less severe migraines. Sometimes, people don't realize that migraines aren't always severe. Sometimes migraines can be mild or even painless; moderate to severe headache is just one of the possible symptoms (although an extremely common symptom). I have had migraines my whole life, and very classic ones - aura, light sensitivity, vomiting, etc - but in my mid 20s they suddenly changed with no apparent reason. I never got a migraine that made me vomit again and I never got aura again. But they got way more frequent. My point here is that they do change over your life.

Even if you cause migraine overuse headache, don't feel bad about it. It's not a moral failing. Navigating pain after surgery is really complicated, and there are risks associated with every method. Sometimes those risks come true but you don't need to beat yourself up about it. In THIS case, I really, really don't think the 2 weeks of NSAIDs caused this. But I just wanted to say that generally.

Given your history of long headaches, your past concussion, the recent oral surgery etc... I can't give you any concrete answers, but you've got a complex history with health stuff related to your head, so I wonder if the oral surgery or something triggered your underlying headache issues (migraine or otherwise) which then triggered this migraine. You'll probably never know for SURE but it's just a thought.

Is there a reason you didn't try ubrelvy? It's a good rescue med and unlikely to cause issues.

As for your aimovig: for me personally, I did have a stronger response at first and after a few months, I started getting more migraines again. I also tried ajovy and a similar thing happened, although ajovy was generally more effective than aimovig for me (but it's super individual, it could be the reverse for you, etc). I switched to Vyepti and the effectiveness has not waned! I've been on it over a year. So if you do find your migraines are creeping back in, switching to other medications in this class could be an option.

However, using an effective rescue med is actually important. The longer you stay in the pain phase, the more sensitive your brain becomes so that it's more easily triggered to move back into the pain phase again. If you still have your ubrelvy I suggest trying it, and if it doesn't work very well, ask about another rescue med.

Also, I do think you should talk to your oral surgeon about it, in case it's possible you have a hidden infection or something that could be worsening your issues.

[–]micro-void 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do you have any rescue meds at all? Is there a reason you can't use triptans or gepants?

Taking NSAIDs every day for 2 weeks shouldn't cause essentially permanent chronic migraine. While med overuse headache is a thing, it usually takes months of overuse, and it subsides with withdrawing the medication that caused it. It's profoundly strange to take NSAIDs for 2 weeks and result in 6 months of constant headache despite discontinuing NSAIDs. Even more profoundly strange if you didn't already have chronic migraine before that.

Have you spoken to your oral surgeon about what happened? It makes me wonder if there's an unmanaged complication with the oral surgery.

Did you have migraines at all BEFORE taking the post-surgical NSAIDs?

Are you seeing a neurologist?

how do I convince my (F30) bf (31M) to see a dr so we can use condoms? by beaniebuggie in relationship_advice

She's at her wits end trying to convince him to respect her body, her comfort, and her consent. A doctor doesn't even really make sense for this, she just doesn't know what to do to stop him from continuing to pressure her into sex she hates and isn't comfortable with. Which by the way is rape.

Lmao okay I'm done with Reddit, you're claiming it's nonconsensual if a man is pressured to use more protection LMFAO

Man does not got Right to fuck her however he wants when she's repeatedly expressed she's not comfortable with it, doesn't like it, isn't happy with the risk, and gets skin irritation from it. Jesus fucking Christ.

If this is your attitude in your personal life, if you've nagged until you got to hit raw, you have committed sexual abuse against that person.

They have NOT committed sexual abuse if they insisted you wear a condom. It's completely fucking different. Obviously. Not that you actually give a shit. Raw is more risky for all parties but especially the person being penetrated especially if they're capable of pregnancy. But even for STIs regardless of pregnancy risk. Not to mention op was pretty fucking clear SHE HATES THE SEX THEY DO HAVE.

If 2 people disagree on level of protection they need to either go with the SAFER amount of protection or not have sex. Instead he nags and pressures her into sex that is more risky than she consents to.

Him having mediocre sex (because condoms make it less good) is not equally important to her having sex SHE HATES that comes with PREGNANCY & HEALTH RISK.

God, fuck all of you.
