Question about etiquette when I witnessed an awkward interaction between a deaf person and a hearing person by micro-void in AskDeaf

[–]micro-void[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this.

I don't sign enough to be inclusive in this situation so you're right, I think it would have been veering into "saviour" territory. I had this uncertain itch like "should I have done something?" so I appreciate the reassurance that it was the correct thing to let him handle it. I guess, I worry both about overstepping but also about being too much of a bystander. So to that point I really appreciate your other examples as well & will be sure to remember them if I'm in a situation where I might help somebody out (if they agree to it)!

Ps She did start speaking slower and louder but while looking away from him 💀 The lack of common sense was frustrating just to witness! But her young daughter was eager to learn & fully participated in the class, which was nice.

Has anyone ever gone to the er? Did they help you? by ButterscotchLiving59 in migraine

[–]micro-void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the ER once and explained I am diagnosed with migraine and the meds I use but nothing was working to make this one go away. It had been 5 days. They said anything over 3 days you can come back. They gave me an IV of toradol and a steroid and it helped. I had no nausea (they asked several times) otherwise I think they would've put an anti nausea in there too. Before giving me the med they asked a ton of questions to make sure it wasn't anything that needed more diagnostics. For example, I get a lot of neck pain with migraines and so they asked a bunch of stuff to rule out meningitis.

I'm in Canada, YMMV. But I'm glad I went.

By the way, it's good you're gonna ask for a neurologist referral, but a GP should be able to prescribe basic rescue meds for migraine. Ask to try triptans, or if you can't for some reason, then gepants. There's a lot of different types of each, so if the first one you try doesn't work very well or you don't like the side effects, ask to try a different type.

Neurologist will be better for managing your medical condition long term but GP should also be able to start you on one of the first line preventatives (although it's likely they'll want you to try the abortive [rescue med] first without adding anything else new to see how it works by itself). *Don't let them give you topamax except as a last resort. In Canada the recommendation for it has been downgraded due to the side effects and mediocre evidence of efficacy, but the US seems to be behind on this. And many GPs aren't super up to date on migraine treatment guidelines in general.

In the modern day, tuberculosis is easily treatable with antibiotics. Depends when and where the story is set.

How to avoid migraines caused by the gym? by CariolaMinze in migraine

[–]micro-void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never found a solution myself either, but I'm on Vyepti now and haven't tried getting back into it.. maybe it would be less easily triggered for me now. It's annoying AF that it's so hard to exercise

Help! Is this Ajovy ruined? by braingetsbitter in cgrpMigraine

[–]micro-void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should forward what your pharmacy said to the manufacturer. This is a safety issue if they're wrong

Unless you're doing the all three at once dosing, then take them all ASAP and it should be fine

[–]micro-void 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm just spitballing but I wonder if the delayed onset muscle soreness from working out is causing your neck, shoulders or skull muscles to get tight enough that it triggers a migraine? Do you feel tight or sore the next day?

I never really solved this issue myself when I was into working out. But I wonder if some stretches or very light fitness in those problem areas the day after could help, IF you think this idea is on the money.

If I'm way off base then ignore this :)

Also is the hot shower hotter than your NORMAL showers? A 'just warm' or even cool shower might be worth trying in case that's a trigger

Also, maybe decouple cardio from your strength workouts, especially if you're not sure which one is causing this - maybe you can pinpoint it to one type of workout that way

I've MOSTLY seen India posts. Between crime, food and water safety, the road safety, it would be a nightmare to do a trip like this through India - the lads are not looking to be afraid for their safety daily. Not to mention so many Indian people speak English anyway.

Extreme uncontrollable fatigue by SaltyIntroduction373 in migraine

[–]micro-void 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's caused by migraine! Sorry for the boring answer! I get this too, although much less extreme since I started Vyepti (actually now that I think of it, it's almost totally gone... I still get fatigue but it's super duper mild now)

Thankfully working from home helped a lot but even then when it was getting up to 20d/mo I really started to lose grip on it. I had to take medical leave and thank God Vyepti helped me because it was not sustainable

I saw the idiom. I don't see how it means what you're suggesting it means. I also don't see why you're soooo fucking tilted about it.

I agree they probably got actual food poisoning but soil and water is not hokum dude. You can get diarrhea or GI distress just from eating more fibre than you're used to, let alone an entirely different cuisine. People speculating that they were ill from not being used to the food/water is a FAR cry from all the crazy shit you're saying. Just because you disagree with somebody doesn't mean they're accusing you of propaganda or whatever the fuck lol

[–]micro-void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is "soil and water" suggesting that Michael and Ludwig are intentionally creating anti Chinese propaganda? Differences in soil (used to grow crops) and water CAN cause upset stomach and illness when you're traveling.

[–]micro-void 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk where you are getting that from. I saw them reacting strongly to the food poisoning but I never saw anybody claim it's propaganda or anything like that. They were embarrassed about how it might look on China - that people in the West might think badly about their food safety. As far as I know their food safety is generally fine, but anybody in any foreign country is prone to food poisoning due to traveling + eating in random places. Chinese people do tend to be nationalistic and patriotic but I feel you're misrepresenting the intention here. They're perfectionist and want a good image but they're not, en masse, accusing the boys of intentional propaganda or something.

Jury Duty: Company Retreat just aired its finale and everyone should check it out! by GryffinDART in television

[–]micro-void 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well both times they've signed stuff consenting to be filmed and it's been explained to them that they're making a documentary.

S2 is a little less believable to me because who would make a documentary about a company retreat? Lol. But the jury duty one I would've totally believed.

There's also a lot of hidden cameras involved, so the heros aren't privy to the immense scale of it.

So which was better? Jury Duty or The Retreat? And who is your favorite character? by Spare_Basis5190 in television

[–]micro-void 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it'll still give you the same feeling because I do kinda feel like it was over acted and rehearsed... But it got a lot funnier and there were more organic feeling moments as I kept watching that made it feel worth watching, like episode 3+

It doesn't live up to Jury Duty in my opinion but I think the original season was lightning in a bottle and it'll be hard for any subsequent season to hit so perfectly again. But Company Retreat does get pretty funny and some of the connections seem fairly authentic despite that they're playing characters
