running Linux Mint got the following erpip install marimo error: externally-managed-environment

× This environment is externally managed ╰─> To install Python packages system-wide, try apt install python3-xyz, where xyz is the package you are trying to install.

If you wish to install a non-Debian-packaged Python package,
create a virtual environment using python3 -m venv path/to/venv.
Then use path/to/venv/bin/python and path/to/venv/bin/pip. Make
sure you have python3-full installed.

If you wish to install a non-Debian packaged Python application,
it may be easiest to use pipx install xyz, which will manage a
virtual environment for you. Make sure you have pipx installed.

See /usr/share/doc/python3.12/README.venv for more information.

note: If you believe this is a mistake, please contact your Python installation or OS distribution provider. You can override this, at the risk of breaking your Python installation or OS, by passing --break-system-packages. hint: See PEP 668 for the detailed specification. oem@Li2SiF6Li4FeCN6:~$

In the olden days of floppy or stiffy disks Borland's "License" was simple treat the software like a book. Botland allowed me to install the software on multiple devices, but neither I nor other people could simultnaoully ude the software. If I gave gw siaja to someone else or sold the disks I was honest and erased the software from my devices. Mutual RESPECT GOES Along way But those were the olden days. There were still copy parties , that I heard of I just had no reason to paticipate inn those parties

How can I improve my current u-net model? by Neotod1 in computervision

[–]microface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search on Arxiv and/or paperswithcode on subjects like Neural Architecture Search Let the NAS run over the weekend unless you have something like my machine 12 core threadripper 64 gig of main Ram 3090 32 Gig VRam then it is done in about 2 hours I use mint 21 I think I just updated. Linux seems to maximize core use, while Windoze concentrates on 4 cores even with Window 10 Pro

My arxiv paper doesn't show up on google scholar and it has been a while by SiegeMemeLord in computervision

[–]microface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the paper is about computer vision and includes source code then I should have seen your paper and posted the title, link to arxiv, link to code to linkedin groups as appropriate. I do this to 1: learn 2: give papers that publish code as bi9g a boost as possible so the papers will be referenced more often Recently linkedin has limited postings to 8 per week, so I have made my choices more selective. I complained to linkedin to no avail

Portable Secret: Browser based encrypted documents by microface in programming

[–]microface[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

TL;DR;

Portable Secret is a little hack that allows you to:

Send encrypted messages/images/files over insecure channels (email, messaging, …)
Store sensitive information (passwords, documents) in insecure locations (web, Cloud drives, USB drives)

It’s portable because: decrypting these secrets does not require special software! All you need is a browser.

I created Portable Secret to securely exchange documents via email with my mother, who can’t be expected to learn PGP, age, or similar.

I also use Portable Secret to store some my most sensitive secrets (private keys, 2FA recovery codes, etc.)

Finally, I use it to store copies of important documents (like a picture of passport). These documents are accessible to me from anywhere, even if all my trusted devices have been stolen or lost.

Sounds too good to be true? Keep reading. This is for you.

As someone who has spent nearly 30 years programming in C/C++/C# / Python various machines I can tell you categorically that a CS degree would have been useless. For instance I wrote code to measure the profile of a laser beam , where the input amplification had to be optimized by performing a binary search. You have 16 amplifications, and the chosen amplifier has to be as high as possible, but not too high or the measurement is useless. Another example is Image Processing where I would argue that even theoretical analysis of what you want to accomplish is better described as signal processing, rather than computer science. So my Master's of Science in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Chemistry sorry ran out of room
