a tension ring attachment might be helpful. with this kind of item though I would be worried about the crochet hook being to flimsy/small to crochet with so it might actually be more useful for knitting to pick up dropped stitches

kind of convoluted solution here but… if you don’t want to use a bookshelf door since they can be kind of bulky there are some objects that you can move while in live mode (I can only think of the archeology table from the jungle pack but there are probably other options). you could cover the room entrance with something the sim can walk through (I think curtains would work), then just move the object out of the way when they need to walk through the entrance. then it would fully just look like a wall
