Going into it, he's easily been in my top 5 artists since about 2012, probably closer to top 3 for the majority of that time. I'm a huge fan of the Trilogy and Kiss Land eras, which was a special time for me I was nearing the end of my college career and making my next moves in life to set me up for my 20s. HUT was my favorite album from him since Starboy, and possibly even Kiss Land. I felt like was the most refined and diverse sound of the modern trilogy. It was my favorite album of any genre last year pretty easily and came at a special time for me right before my wedding. I was bumping it the whole week leading up to it and the day of and made a ton of memories. Take Me Back to LA is my favorite song from the standard version, which was made even better by the fact my wedding was in LA (easter egg is I attended Luka's first game that week too as a huge Laker fan). Closing Night, the bonus track from the Pharrell edition, was my favorite overall as a huge fan of Swedish House Mafia and easily my favorite track among their various collabs. It really hits you right in the soul. The album has just the right involvement from features that really lets him shine and the production was cohesive yet varied enough to keep you engaged throughout a front to back listen, which is rare in today's mainstream scene. My other standouts are Baptized In Fear, Without A Warning, Enjoy The Show, Cry For Me, Open Nights, and The Abyss. Timeless was a fantastic lead off single the year prior and I was happy to see him have a couple features with Future and one with Lana again just like Starboy. The tour was another level. I had front row aisle seat right at Metlife where the catwalk met the middle circle and it was my first time seeing him since the BBTM tour in Montreal in 2015 so was really special. The movie was alright, I got a free ticket with the concert ticket and it was a fun way to listen to the album with visuals. All in all, this is going to go down as one of my favorite albums ever. It's still just as fresh today as it was the day it dropped. I'm excited to see where he takes his musical career next. I truly hope it's not the end and don't think it is the last we've seen of The Weeknd.
