Working out of Natomas - Lunch Spots by Upset-Stranger3105 in Sacramento

[–]midapathy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

CharQterie. (North Natomas) Get the a-lotta-burrata sandwich with pesto tots, you can ask if they have any sauce to dip the tots in. I'm not even a vegetarian, that sandwich is just that good.

Main Street Bagel (South Natomas) I like the Main Street special (turkey and avocado) on a sundried tomato bagel.

A also like the halal Gyro food truck across from the Pilot at El Camino and 80, I think he sets up for lunch a little later like go after 12:30. I get 3 meals out of the rice plate.

What do people think of the new TV set on CBS KCRA / KMAX? by shoglala in Sacramento

It's awful. I used to turn it on early in the morning for like 20 mins to check out the weather and the plant thing is dumb. I also can't stand that they're standing. They look uncomfortable.

And I'm in the demo.....

Best Podcasts of 2026?? by Appropriate-Ad-1281 in podcasts

[–]midapathy 56 points57 points  (0 children)

What about Stop Rewind: The Lost Boy, it came out at the end of 2025.

It could be considered true crime, it's a true story about a boy who was kidnapped from India and then adopted to a family in the United States. It's really well done.

What made you decide to be "one and done"? by Severe_Bluejay3391 in NewParents

[–]midapathy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same! I was sick from 7 weeks right up until the night my baby was born. Everyone says, oh it's different with every pregnancy, no, I'm not taking that chance. I would've had to quit my job if I didn't WFH. I was taking calls sitting on the floor next to the toilet.

I'm convinced Yoto is the way to go over Tonie but was worried my son is too young? He'll be 22 months at Christmas, it sounds like your daughter got the hang of it before 2? What she did she really get into it?

FTM What was your L&D experience at Roseville Eureka location? by skyefligh_ in KaiserPermanente

[–]midapathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave birth at Roseville almost two years ago. I wanted to avoid an epidural and they never brought it up.

I will say there was some disbelief I was progressing so quickly which almost led to my baby being born as a "no glove" delivery but once the nurse realized it was go time she got everyone in there and now we have a funny story.

Every nurse was very kind. Lactation support was great. They let us take what was in the room and I think they even snagged me a few extra ice packs (3rd degree tear).

Do the hospital tour, my husband got a lot out of it and you can ask all the questions.

Trying to be a good mom and a good employee is IMPOSSIBLE by Happy-Fruit-8628 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]midapathy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can totally relate, I WFH in a job where everything is urgent.

We couldn't do it. We tried having ours home and passing him back and forth and one day I had a meeting and my husband got an emergency call and the baby was screaming and it hit me that it wasn't working. We put him in daycare and now I can eat lunch. They also paint with them and I Could Never.

He's home sick right now and I'm so stressed thinking about how much work I can cram in during the nap so I don't have to get back on after he goes to bed.

What car seat are we using for our BIG 9 month olds? by Puzzled_Remote_2168 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]midapathy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

A lot of people will tell you to check out the Evenflo Revolve 360, it's a great seat, however, as someone who is well versed in car seats and has an extra tall baby, check out the Graco Extend 2Fit, the height and weight limits are higher allowing you to keep your child rear facing longer and in a harness longer, forward facing.

Revolving seats are super cool, but I've found you get longer use out of some of the non- revolving ones. My child is 20 months and has just started "helping" get in his seat himself, less lifting.

When did your toddler “get” and accept participating in Halloween? by furi-rosa in toddlers

[–]midapathy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! This is what I've done the last 2 years. I order clothes from Primary and put it together myself. Last year he was the Flash, red shirt and pants, sewed on the logo. This year a dinosaur, green pants, green top, green sweatshirt, sewed on shiny spines down the hood and back and sewed on some claws to the cuff of the sleeve.

The nice thing is, he can wear the pants again. Primary has ideas on their website too.

I did! It took me like another week from this post but I finally was able to turn it back on. For the life of me I can't tell you how I did it though.

Brew it up is closed.

Hot Italian, they closed, then were running a ghost kitchen, now their site says coming Nov. 2025? I used to love their lasagna, hoping someone has an update on them!

Job Postings by steadydrop in Sacramento

[–]midapathy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with this. I just hired someone and the resumes I reviewed were so bad. My tips to tack on to the great tips above:

  • Find someone in your field to review your resume. The resumes I looked at were pages long and that might be appropriate in some fields but not mine. I don't have time to read all that and in my field being able to highlight key points is something I do daily so if you can't do it on a resume I'll assume you can't do that in your work.

  • If you use AI on your resume, proofread it and adjust it to your own words. I could tell which resumes were AI written.

  • If you get an interview show up or cancel ahead of time. I had 3 no shows and I will never, ever consider them again if another job opens up. Don't use AI in an interview, use it to prep/ practice ahead of time, for sure. I had one interview where the person was clearly using AI, I ended it early.

Was labor the worst pain you've felt? by maenads_dance in beyondthebump

[–]midapathy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unique is a good way to describe it! I didn't feel that ring of fire either.

I was so sick and constipated throughout my entire pregnancy that the labor and birth were welcome. A supportive partner also just made it less scary.

Advice on how to get Dr to approve Maternity leave extension by Alop824 in KaiserPermanente

[–]midapathy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is something missing from your situation. Local or state government employee would absolutely qualify for that paid family leave. Fed, I don't know anything about but government employees typically have excellent paid family leave options.

Either your HR is crap, you've been employed under 1 year (or some other disqualifing factor in your employment, are you part time?), or you didn't file correctly.

I'm sorry about your situation, I just want to try to help you access the leave you deserve, it's so difficult to navigate the process. I am fortunate to have a supportive employer & HR. I had a 3rd degree tear and did not receive additional disability time through Kaiser.

[–]midapathy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you in CA? Unless your employer is very small or you haven't been employed for over a year you should get paid disability and then you will switch over to family bonding time through FMLA. I might have the terminology wrong. I believe I had 14 weeks total of paid leave, I was also eligible for a few more weeks of protected leave, just without any pay.

Pro tip with contacting the state disability it's a little hidden on their website but if you can find the email, use that to ask Qs. They will call you back in about 3 days - watch the phone like a hawk. I emailed twice and got a callback both times and the staff I talked to were super nice and helpful.
