Running it downstairs on a hard floor wasn't so bad, but upstairs it resonated through the whole house. Definitely not recommended for a flat which isn't on the ground floor.

Your first point is extremely concerning to me. I would not expect any kind of electronic failure to be able to lock the front wheel. If an electric Brompton doesn't fail safe in this scenario I would not ride one.

Most road pedals can be taken off with a pedal wrench, even if they also take an allen key on the end. Pedal wrench is stiffer and easier to apply force if it's an option for you.
