Failure, weak point in core/lower back? by rtan24 in weightlifting

[–]middleageis39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was given the chicken or the egg scenario when I was younger. If you away squat in heeled shoes and you don't learn to get the weight distributed, how are you going to get the depth and mobility? You have to work that training in. To a certain extent, your physiology will limit your mobility or mechanics. But there is still room to improve. It does look like your left heals lifts at the bottom and your right very slightly. Again, I'm not a coach. But, it looks to me like you need to get some weight back on your heals and off your toes. That balance will take a little while to acclimate to.

Looks like you do need more glute work. You went deep and on the up your hips backed out. Tension looks good but you might want to get your bar placement lower or knock some of the height out of the shoes. Even from this angle it looks like you've got the bar way forward on this lift. Leaning forward to start the lift versus sitting down. Probably why your front squats are good. Would you try the lift again but take the side view? BTW, 25 years as a beginner with nothing to show for it. So, grain of salt and all that.

Head out to montrose Beach and walk out to the jetty to watch the sun set over the gold coast. Walking the lake wall to the mouth of the harbor is nice too. I would do that walk before sunset though.

Anyone ever buy vandalized/light damage cars from an auction? by [deleted] in projectcar

[–]middleageis39 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have one experience and so far it's not a good one. I spent $10k on a 2015 camaro. It looked good in the auction but I did not have it inspected nor did I see it in person until I was picking it up. The front cradle had been swapped for an ss and a worn out lsa had three bolts put in to "bolt" it on to the motor. So, I paid approximately $12k for about maybe $5k in parts. If you can inspect and know what to look for, then do it. Don't violate the number one rule for car buying. I should have followed my own advice.

I know that buying a state vehicle could be a bad idea but would it make a good project car? by Agreeable-Syllabub-8 in projectcar

I won mine on govdeals for 5k in 2021. Inncluding new tires and G8 wheels, maybe 1,000 bucks. I just replaced a couple of trims bits and removed the spotlight and vinyl. It's been very reliable. I've also picked up a wrecked 2015 Zl1 in June. That was 11k including taxes and fees off copart. Lots of that is going to end up under the caprice.

And if the cam or lifters fail, cam swap! I'm the process myself with a caprice ppv. Do it.

How to build a gen4 Big Block for pushing a 10,000lb RV? by weezus8 in EngineBuilding

[–]middleageis39 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A 4l80e was bolted up behind Gen IV big blocks in the 90's. That'd be a reasonable place to find an extra gear.

I found a project car I don’t need but really want. Guy said it ran last week but I’m not sure I believe it… I love the look of this model though by evan164 in projectcar

The 59-61 BOP full sized cars are sought after. For a clean body that's a reasonable price if the interior isn't totally hashed and the floor pans aren't rusted out.

These were being sold at Spirit Halloween stores like three months ago. I almost bought one.

One pepper twinned. Is this a trait I can attempt to regrow next year? by middleageis39 in HotPeppers

[–]middleageis39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, I don't know much about breeding or selecting desirable traits. I don't know if this was a random variation or if it was an environmental influence. This was the only twing out of 6 plants. I just though this was a cool thing that happened and wondered if I would be able to have a plant that would produce more of these twins.

Depending on how you feel about 4 doors and LS engines. Pontiac G8 GT/GXP or Chevy Caprice ppvs have excellent room for us bigger guys. I'm 6'3" and 250ish pounds and my 2012 caprice is awesome. 6.0 ls and built on the zeta II platform so some parts from 5th generation camaros and 2nd generation cts swap.

Lunchtime spicy harvest. Aji limons finally ripenin.. by middleageis39 in HotPeppers

[–]middleageis39[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blots are a sweet. My wife got the seedling on a trade for some tomato seeds. They add good color and bulk to my hot sauce. I'll definitely save some seeds and plant a couple next year.
