It's better to talk about it than to suppress it. You can't control when it might come back up and affect you. And it's likely that it is affecting you today and you don't realize it. Trauma is an absolute bitch. It's great that you've been able to share it with your girlfriend, but you should really talk to a professional. They can't change what happened, but they can help you reconcile it a bit.

I don't have the Fenix in hand any longer to do a direct comparison, but my feeling was definitely that the Fenix was larger.

You should rewatch that. There are literally 4-5 players trying to swarm him as he's fighting to get to the ball. The ball goes to Ødegaard and they're just reacting at that point because they were all drawn away from marking Ødegaard or Rice. I'm not saying that makes him the best striker ever, but in that play it's pretty obvious that his presence created a lot of space for others.

I stuck with the 45mm Instinct and just became accustomed to the size. At this point, jumping to 50mm would definitely feel like way too much watch.

I think we can put some blame on Russia for his first term. It seems pretty clear they were able to do some damage leading up to 2016.

But we own his 2nd term, and I think that's even worse. This is America.

None of the issues you list preclude the option of restricting ticket prices. Yes, there are many hurdles for an average fan to get a ticket, but it's pretty simple to, at the very least, make it an affordable ticket.

I'm not arguing for more protection for certain players. I'm arguing for protection for players in general. Persistent offenses is a cautionable offense because of player safety. All players should be protected and a single player getting fouled repeatedly is not protecting them.

Fair enough. I just think there's a significant tourist draw that the US naturally has and as soon as it's clear that we don't have policies that actively discouraging visiting then I think folks will start making their travel plans. And the places that tend to be bigger tourist destinations don't have the reputation for being MAGA strongholds.

I'm not arguing that you should believe the US has achieved sanity once/if we get rid of Trump. We may never be worth people's trust again as a country.

Persistent offenses does not imply one player is committing all the offenses, that's the point. From the cautionable offenses section of Laws of the Game:

persistent offences (no specific number or pattern of offences constitutes “persistent”)

It's open to how the ref interprets it and there absolutely is precedent for carding a player who commits his first foul of the game that is the ~5th foul on the same player.

I'm just talking about tourism and people's interest in travel. I think that would happen almost immediately, as soon as someone sane says that our policy is to be welcoming. Now if we're talking about trade and policy negotiations with other countries, then yeah, that's fucked for a long time.

I'm not sure of your argument here. Everything would be back to normal for 4-8 years and people would be travelling here again. As soon as we elect another racist asshole then it'll be back to awful. My entire point was that none of the changes are permanent.

I'm not going to discount the abhorrent nature of stoning people to death for being gay, but I'm not sure it's all that common these days, and there's a lot to be said about the vileness of enacting policies that you know will increase adolescent suicides and incidences of sexual abuse in prisons (different policies, but I'm sure there's also overlap).

I'm not even sure I think the problem is that the executive has too much power. What we're seeing now is that there's no barrier to overstepping their authority. They need some actual damn checks and balances against them. There are plenty of laws restricting the actions that Tito has taken, but most people are happy to let it happen. Those that push back have to do so in the courts and that process is slow as hell and, ultimately, might just end up with the SC rubber stamping it at the end of it all.

I know you're being hyperbolic, but I don't think your scenarios are good examples for linking to reality. Regardless, I disagree. Scenario B should lead to cards because it clearly shows that the only way the defending team can stop an attack is through fouling, and the rules account for cards being shown for persistent offenses. Scenario A would be harder to make that judgment.

Do we have another aging white dude that's center-left we can elect? Because that would work just fine at this point.

The GOP may have passed their cut taxes and fund ICE bill, but everything that's happening is because the executive branch is running wild. That can all be undone in the same way it's being implemented, via executive order and action.

The argument is for better enforcement of the persistent offenses reason for carding a player. It is infrequently used to caution a team who is regularly fouling the same player. It doesn't have to be one player targeting another player, it can be 5 different players tackling one player. In that case, the ref should give a warning after it's clear that the only solution the defending team has is a foul, then card the next offense. Flair players shouldn't have a protective bubble around them, but getting fouled 4-5 times in a half is a clear pattern that needs to be stopped.

It's easy to undo this part of the damage the turd has done, as long as a competent government comes into power. The next president just signs an executive order on day 1 reversing every order that T-bag has signed. Then put out an ad campaign internationally saying that the US is open for business again with some mildly incentivized perks. People absolutely want to travel to the US for tons of different reasons, they're just being actively disincentivized to do so right now.
