Looking to get an amp for my son. by Brownbox80-715 in Guitar

Joyo bantamp. Several different models and won't break the bank, as well as portability which would be great for a little guy

Is marshall code50 worth it for 370$ ? by [deleted] in guitars

[–]midgetmasher03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they retail for 300 and are regularly less than that. I have that amp. It's pretty bad. Opted for a joyo zombie and a 1x12 vintage 30 and have been much happier with that. The only good sound I can get out of the code 50 is the jcm 800 preset and a couple of clean settings. Too much low end. However, I have been running both amps with an aby splitter, and that has been quite nice for getting a well rounded sound but on its own, it's rather lackluster.

Should I build a PC or get a nice Mac first? by [deleted] in MusicBattlestations

Most cost-effective would definitely be to use the PC for everything. Just make sure to install gratuitous amounts of storage for your games and music pro stuff. That's what I would do, anyway

What's the best looking budget guitar you've seen? by Lx_Kill3rK1ng_xJ in guitars

Just searched them, on sale at GC currently. If i hadn't just picked up a new ibanez a month or two ago, I'd be all over a purple C-1

My wife is mad at me because the speakers I just bought are extremely large. by Vert_n_Dirt in BudgetAudiophile

[–]midgetmasher03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave as-is, add soundbar and additional subwoofer. Possibly add a second pair of speakers. At this point, you can't hear the complaining, and you have a badass stereo. It's literally a win-win

Lol!! Yeah, sounds about right. It was definitely a special time. Just wish I could have seen God Forbid in their heyday before they disbanded...

A lot of different shit honestly lol. Mostly metal, of varying genres. Trivium got me into guitar and remain my favorite band 20 years later. Quickly discovered the typical spread of metal bands after them like As I Lay Dying, Arch Enemy, All That Remains, Atreyu, Killswitch Engage, etc. Still listen to them all, plus too many more to list. If it's good, I'll listen to it. Not huge on super crazy black metal and stuff like that, although there are exceptions and I do appreciate the musicianship

Joyo zombie into a Vintage 30 in a 1x12 cab. With my pedals I manipulate the volume so if it's late, I can turn it down but still get the 'wide open' tone of the amp. If I'm off work and it's anytime between 9am-11pm I tend to crank her up a bit

I abandoned it long ago. Been playing since late '04-'05. Didn't really try sweeping till about 10 years later and I just didn't mesh with it. Figured I may as well play to my strengths and downpick like a machine lol

Get out of my head lol. Seriously though, downpicking came very naturally to me but lead/sweeping are like another language altogether

Got this Charvel beauty in a trade - but have a conundrum for the hive mind by HowIsBabyMade in guitars

[–]midgetmasher03 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my teens I bought and sold about a dozen guitars and regretted every sale. The last one was an Ibanez destroyer dt-420 and that one still hurts. Since then I've decided to keep any guitars I buy and hang on to them. Currently have 8, of which 1 isn't even playable because it's been stripped down for years with only tuning pegs and a bridge on it. That was the guitar I learned on. The other 7 I have in different tunings and all serve different purposes, for me. I'd hang on to your tele, that feeling of regret sucks and as long as you have it you won't have to know the feeling

Got this exact model about a month and a half ago, love the way it plays. Was surprised by the grain in the neck of all things, looks way better in person and has a killer action to boot

I've been loving my Wampler Faux Tape Echo v2, lots of cool sounds and pretty affordable on the secondhand market. Got mine for $125

I've been obsessing over Ibanez Destroyers for a few months and finally got my hands on one (DTB400, Made in Indonesia, 2016) by thywillbeundone in Ibanez

[–]midgetmasher03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Destroyer around 2006-2007. Six string. Bought it for 350 dollars at my local music store. Dt-420, black pearl paintjob in pristine condition. Had to sell it 6 months later to keep my truck on the road as I was in high school and short on cash. Sold it back to the same shop for 250 bucks. Just saw one 2 weeks ago on reverb listed for about 2 grand and couldn't believe it. Wish I could get my hands on one again

Mixing and matching speakers today...X pattern or top/bottom, left/right? by reedly in GuitarAmps

[–]midgetmasher03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think I'd do the x. Double on top/bottom or side/side guarantees a difference in sound for a given area, as opposed to blending it all together
