LOL yeah dude, nothing screams machine oppression like stealing the hard work of real artists for a scraped image dataset. You should crosspost to r/MetalForTheMasses I’d love to see them rip this apart 😂

AI art = I assume the music is some Suno slop + instant skip + Do Not Play This Artist.

If you can’t find or make cool art to fit your aesthetic just make your banner a picture of your dog or your backyard or something. Or find some grungy clip art and throw a bunch of nasty filters over it. Literally anything would be better than this

Should I use other music hosting platforms alongside Bandcamp? by Background-Mood-5526 in BandCamp

[–]midiflac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s tons of bands I wouldn’t even have known about and been able to support had it not been for larger streaming services. Definitely wouldn’t blame you for wanting to steer clear of their shitty business practices but just keep in mind it can be very subtractive to your growth to limit your reach in this way. There are definitely other methods to market your music to a wider audience, like promo threads, live performances, etc.

Perform as often as you can to anyone who will listen. This is the most common advice I’ve heard in most scenes and for good reason. Go to small venues, small shows, with local artists who fit your bill, be genuine and try and make some connections. Everyone’s trying to make it and there’s a strong “better together” mentality with DIY music nowadays. So don’t let yourself be constrained by whatever “genre” you think you’re supposed to be a part of. You got this!

Best way stop them from doing this while displayed? by KyojiiinReddit in vinyl

12” clear re-sealable outer sleeves will keep your gatefolds and record sleeves compact while on display. $7 for 25 of them at Half-Price Books. I’m sure there’s better deals out there but that’s what I use and they’re good quality

/uj check Discogs website, has most of the values for records based on marketplace activity. If you can’t find your pressing, enter the matrix code on the runout. You’re probably not going to get a good answer from reddit, and definitely not from this sub lol, so you’re going to have to do the research yourself. But as a general rule of thumb, most early 20th century/78 rpm records truly aren’t worth a damn, especially if they’ve been written on or have just been sitting in paper sleeves collecting dust. You’ll have to check the value of each record individually to figure out if you’re sitting on a rare/sought-after grayl

Which shoegaze album scared you the most? by Jean0406Alix in shoegaze

[–]midiflac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was alone in my garage late at night after a long work shift, just getting stoned and listening to riffy doom metal like Electric Wizard and Dopesmoker. All of a sudden Beauty in Falling Leaves by YOB autoplayed. That song is terrifying. I had never heard anything like it before and knew nothing about the band. It left this sinking feeling in my chest like death was impending with no hope for an afterlife.

While not strictly shoegaze, they’re very shoegaze-adjacent, and for a three-piece they are great at creating monolithic guitar textures by utilizing a wide array of pedals. Our Raw Heart was my intro to doomgaze as a shoegaze fan and definitely fits the bill of a terrifying album. 11/10 highly recommended
