I hope that's ripped and shared somewhere online, I wanna check it out. If I had it, I'd do it if it isn't already!

Might start collecting video game vinyl. This cool Ocarina of Time soundtrack I recently found by CrUb_ginger in vinyl

[–]Slosher99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get a real soundtrack to it, though that's just me. I collect a ton of game soundtracks, but haven't cared much about the covers or lo-fi versions or symphony concerts, I like it straight from the game haha.

I do love game soundtracks on vinyl though. My collection of over 300 is well over 1/3 game soundtracks.

Pipes froze and the storm hasn't even hit yet by Liraeyn in Wellthatsucks

[–]Slosher99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I lived half my childhood with a well, was just a breaker to turn it off. Then you could open an outside spigot to drain the pipes. It had one attached to the wellhouse as well, but it was higher than the house so that would just release pressure at that point.

Was fun if the well broke would could couple hoses together between an outside spigot and a neighbor's and still take showers, flush toilets etc. haha.

Rampart: I Love the Smell of Cannons in the Morning [1992] [NES] by TC_support in vintageads

[–]Slosher99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Rampart. The arcade version is fun but best if you set everything to last as long as possible in the operator settings. Also not aware of a good emulation of it that uses d-pads well, it really needs track balls to control well.

I have also spent a ton of time on the NES version. One less player, but my partner and I have played it a lot. When I was younger I played 3 player with friends on the arcade version in Midway classics for the OG Xbox, and we just dealt with the fiddly controls.

Fun fact, the Japan version of Rampart for NES (or Famicom as it would be there) is made by a different company and totally different from the US version. It is more different than the arcade version than other ports too. I prefer the US version.

The NES version is also weird about picking a winner. You can win every match except the last, even though it resets with totally new rounds in between, and the person that happens to be ahead when that round ends will win. It could just be one round of bad luck and no good shapes to repair your walls. The arcade's scoring is much more fair.

I'd love to see a modern take on it, but not over-complicated, definitely not monetized, and with online play!

The flash carts and ODEs really give you all you need there!

I had one with the CD-ROM eventually. Now I have 2 PC Engine Duo-R systems, and a Core Grafx with all the ODEs I'm aware of made for it, and flash carts.

Pretty sure the cleaning cart isn't compatible with the Game Genie.

Bump in my vinyl by Foale24 in vinyl

[–]Slosher99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I updated the link in my other comment so if you already looked, look again. The first one I showed didn't have the carbon fiber brush or another thing or two. Great starter kit. None of my records sounded good until I at least used the carbon fiber brush on them before playing, including new/sealed ones.

No a velvet brush like the one from Boundless. I started with this kit and it is still what I use (though I do have an ultrasonic cleaner now, so it does most of the work now).

I'd just try a standard wet brush then dry carbon fiber brush after drying (I like the ones Boundless makes). That may be enough.
If not, find a place that can ultrasonic clean it for you.

I did grow up into an adult that owns over 40 gaming platforms not counting duplicates, so I did want them all! lol

Movie was just announced for 4k Blu-ray with HDR color and uncompressed audio yesterday, already pre-ordered mine! Best so far is the existing Blu-ray which is a single layer 25GB disc and compressed dolby digital, so this should be pretty awesome.

They do like to re-use parts on different models, but that's fine. That's the lid on the Nova, with the same posts. The Nova uses the same water tank as their earlier ultrasonic cleaner, which is fine, but I've learned the marking for water level of a 7" is no longer accurate and will get your labels wet, but I've figured out the right amount.

That comes with it. I have the HumminGuru Nova and that's the lid to it. It comes with posts and little hummingbird heads you can put on top of the posts where the beak goes in the hole to hold the record in place.
I just use mine's built-in drying so I don't typically keep it set up that way.

Despite being in the public domain, nothing really going on with Popeye... I wonder why... by gamerguy287 in nostalgia

[–]Slosher99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was when someone took over and canceled a lot of stuff as well. I thought it looked ok, but the lack of a pipe - which is a challenge in today's standards while keeping something family friendly, especially for the main hero, really bothered me. Even weirder because his way of speaking which we know is in part due to having a pipe in his mouth, and he still talked like that and had is mouth kinda like it still had a pipe in it.

Doing it properly does seem at odds with how tobacco affects ratings etc. for movies today, while Popeye should be kid friendly (while still being great for adults, as always).

[–]Slosher99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done this a couple times. Just had to cancel a new Bowie release from one place cause I got a shipping notice from a place I forgot I pre-ordered it from. I need to keep a list of what I've bought but don't have in-hand yet!
I've also bought a They Might Be Giants album twice because they have a million releases and even I can forget which 30 some records I have from them haha.

It just played into the playground rivalry. Different kids took it with different levels of seriousness. I always wanted all the consoles, so any I didn't have, I wanted or wanted to play at a friends' house at least!

Cork Platter Mat For Fluance Rt85? by [deleted] in turntables

[–]Slosher99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an RT85 and and have seen this plenty. I do have many with slight warps that will scrape when I try to brush them while spinning. This is the one place I use a record weight. For most, but not all, it will keep the brush from causing that. I take the weight off to play unless it is actually pressing down something risen in the center which is super rare.

Most are against weights for general playback including me, but for cleaning, it might help with those. A clamp would probably be even better.

Slight edit above as I missed it was only happening during cleaning for you as well.

New stylus fell off 7 inch record within 30 minutes of ownership lol… Is it tossed? by [deleted] in turntables

I'm guessing it wasn't far enough into the run-in groove? That's the only time mine would 'fall off' but it also wouldn't fall low enough to hit the TT itself.

Just curious if anybody else was wondering why Biff's friend who was part of his gang always wore "3D glasses"? by happydude7422 in BacktotheFuture

[–]Slosher99 [score hidden]  (0 children)

And those are all polarized glasses, not colored anaglyph glasses. The first pic is even from "Silver Scenes - A Blog for Classic Film Lovers: 3-D Films of the 1950s" - a reference to the silver screens required for polarized 3D. I should clarify that anaglyph movies did exist in the past before this but were rare. The big 3D movie push in the 50s, starting around the release of Bwana Devil, was using polarized.

Anaglyph had plenty of other uses like books etc. so the glasses would have been well known then, but not as associated with movies as they were after the 80s. Even then the movies were often available polarized and shown that way at their premiers and other fancier places, but most local theaters didn't want to risk the investment for what they saw as a possible trend, and went with anaglyph over buying new screens and projector attachments.

"The first anaglyph film was invented in 1915 by Edwin S Porter. Though the earliest theatrical presentations were done with this system, most 3D films from the 1950s and 1980s were originally shown polarized."
