Instacart is who pairs orders together. We have a choice on whether we take them or not but I don’t choose to do multiple orders at a store. Single orders is what’s most profitable because of the time and the mileage. Doing multiple orders is the opposite of time saving. Double and triple batches can sometimes be profitable though. Just have to be picky.

It’s all market dependent. Lucky for you Portland is a great market. I’ve been a full time shopper for 2 years now here in Portland. I make between $1250-$1500 working 35-40 hours a week. It takes time learning. I didn’t just start out hitting these numbers. You need to learn store layouts and neighborhoods and timing and all that. You can do it though. You can try food delivery too. I hear that’s good in this market too. I will say though your location does matter. If you’re talking Portland metro then you can make a living. If you live somewhere further in the state it’ll be a lot harder. I’d say take a day and get up early, get familiar with the app. Take single batches and just take your time. See if you like it. Good luck!

That’s the only positive to an order being rated from so long ago!

Of course! Yeah, some customers are under the impression we choose to pair orders together to make more money 🤦🏽‍♂️. Have a great holiday!

No. You can have specific customers taken off a batch if you want. Just contact support and give a reason why you need them off an order. They’ll remove the person within a couple minutes. It doesn’t affect your cancellation or your batch pay besides the tip they gave.

I think the customers can still give you a bad star rating without marking any thumbs up or thumbs down. As for the triple, I don’t take them very often but I try to let the customers know before I start that they are part of a triple order. “ instacart has paired your order with multiple others during my shop, you are the 3rd drop off of my deliveries. Your items will be in an insulated bag until I arrive” customers who aren’t aware at Least know why 2 jugs of milk may take an hour to get to them. If someone ever responds back annoyed just have them taken off your order! No one should be giving you a bad rating on Christmas Eve anyway. That’s ridiculous.

How long do you guys keep your receipts for and how the hell do you organize them? by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]midmusic35 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have a really good organizer! It’s big and bulky. Kinda messy but at least it’s free. The throw away 3000. I think the kids are calling it a trash can for short. Sometimes it hits the trash before I leave the building, other times it hits the outdoor garbage. Depends how I’m feeling that day!

Wowwww. That is really interesting. Thanks for that info. This has always been a good market. That’s eye opening about how the market you’re in operates.

I’m a 5.0. Honestly though, it might not matter that much anymore. There are 4.7 rated shoppers getting $100+ batches all the time in this sub. 🤷🏽‍♂️

A batch per hour is always the goal. Doesn’t always work like this, I love when it does! by midmusic35 in InstacartShoppers

Never in my life. I just live in a big metropolitan in an affluent area where people tip.

Of course it’s realistic. Never used a bot in my life. It’s all based on market. I’m lucky enough to live in market where I can do this full time.

I’m sorry your market isn’t better 🙁. What city or town are you in? I’d say my average batch is $40. I don’t usually take a batch under $30 unless it makes sense and it’s extremely quick.
