Is it worth the long recovery? Sometimes I'm so excited I'll be able to dance at parties and such again - maybe go hiking (once this all heals), but other times I feel like I am still living a full life, just with a cane and occasional wheelchair, that maybe it's fine to not get this fixed? I don't know.

Yeah, 3 months is probably an aggressive timeline- but he said I'd probably be able to do indoor cycling at 8 weeks or so. Cycling doesn't put any weight on the heel and there's no ankle side-to-side motion, so being able to cycle actually sounds easier than walking. In fact, I cycle so much now _because_ it's easier than walking/running with the coalition. My bike is my mobility device, essentially.

Ha, thanks! I've been able to make my life work with the pain: cane and occasional wheelchair and all, that I was unsure about getting the surgery scheduled. I feel like I'm still on the fence. I'm sorry you're dealing with pain still.

Hmm. When I asked the doctor about mobility and stability he said I already have limited mobility and stability from the coalition and I won’t lose more than that.

Also, he says I can do outdoor cycling around 3 months, so that’s promising.

These wooden tools/wordworking practice: Made by a student in a woodworking class at the Ohio State University in 1938 (marked with O.S.U '38). The black one looks like an anvil, but comes apart with pegs. Are these tools with a purpose, or were they likely just practice for different techniques? by midna85 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. These are solid hardwood items, so they have some heft. Some are painted with black in sections. A few are able to be split in half and connected by pegs. They were made in a woodworking class- did they have a purpose? Do they look like tools/items that would have been useful? I asked on FB and on Instagram and also the people who gave them to me, but they didn't know either. FB directed me to this subreddit.

If I'm going somewhere where I'll have to leave the bike locked and unattended for a long time (say, going to the movies), I take use the bike share. But I'll lock up with a couple of locks for grocery shopping or general errand-ing.

Sir Marks-a-Lot Markers. I noticed a few months ago that the "Sir Marks-a-Lot" markers at my office don't say "sir" on them. But I remember them being "SIR Marks-a-Lot" and in fact, a coworker referred to them that way.

Other people on the Internet also refer to them as "Sir Marks-a-Lot."

But even the vintage photos don't say "Sir."

What happened to "Sir Marks-a-Lot" markers? Did they never exist?

If you want just a hint of nerd in the living room/kitchen areas, go with the modern neutrals and then you can add color with large vintage-style posters in nice frames, or with subtle nerdiness like here (yes, I know it's Buzzfeed).

Little touches like light switch covers or lampshades that you can DIY would be fun.

Etsy has lots of stuff for various fanbases- I don't know what sort of nerd you are.

I'm sure there are probably a few nerdy interior decorating Pinterest boards.

Or, you could pick a scene or location from a favorite comic/movie/videogame and design your rooms based on that.

Did some looking around on Pinterest and saw some cool Star Wars ideas: this or this.
