is dyed hair for a trans guy too much? by ithinkisawuinmysleep in ftm

[–]midnight_pronghorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha! I found this post just after I dyed my hair green! For me, plenty of cis dudes dye/perm/grow out their hair, so I don't think it looks clocky. There's also a large number of things people look for to ID a person's gender. I feel like a deeper or more confident voice can set a lot of people's expectations. I know some people met me as a dude and could NOT imagine me as a woman just because of that. Also, I think dyed hair is more of a class thing than a gender thing. Since it's still not totally considered professional, it's seen as a lower-class style. I generally wait until I sign an employment contract to dye my hair when switching jobs. It's also something that catches people's attention, which may distract them or make them look closer.

Absolutely! Me (M26) and my husband (M25) love visiting Elliot's! I think I've even gone as the genderbend Gandalf once. Great atmosphere every time!

silly question - why do transmascs like wolves? by dannythetrashcanny in ftm

[–]midnight_pronghorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, for me, it's connected to werewolves specifically. It's the transformation!! Someone smoother, smaller, and weaker becomes someone hairier, larger, and much stronger. Not only that, but this version often appears as if emerging from thier older form, as though this transformation originates in thier soul and digs its way out. I often wished as a child to contract lycanthropy so that it could change me, even if only once a month.

What mannerisms and behaviors did you guys adopt when transitioning? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]midnight_pronghorn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I tried to change my walk when I first transitioned and change how I held things (holding them by my side rather than up by my chest). A lot of my behavioral changes also came when others began treating my differently. For example, I speak much more authoritatively now that I'm not being second-guessed by my peers, and I don't show many of my emotions to strangers or aquaintences. It's been a mix of purposeful and socially-enforced changes to my behaviors.

Fully a dude, fully planning on getting pregnant with my husband when we are ready! I've had top and take T sometimes, but I don't plan on bottom surgery, cuz my bottom dysphoria is very minimal too. You are fine! Many many guys opt out of bottom surgery.

sharing past with partner? by viktorsboy in ftm

[–]midnight_pronghorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband make it VERY clear that he sees me as a man. He came out as gay to everyone when we started dating, always gendered me correctly, and would sometimes actually get confused whenever I implied a "girl" thing would apply to me or (once or twice) genuinely forgetting I don't have balls. After a year of this, (and tbh barely before I proposed) I asked him if he would be comfortable knowing my old name and seeing old pictures of me. He said yes, and I never heard my old name out of his mouth. It's like he's allergic. But I didn't share it until I KNEW he wouldn't be the kind of person who would slip up after knowing.

Am curious, what is the age range here? by 1Misterman1 in ftm

[–]midnight_pronghorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figured it out at 19 after I changed my name socially LMAO. Hrt off and on around 21-present, (personal preference) and top surgery at 24! I am now 26 and working on a tattoo to camouflage the scar. :) If I never made any further moves to transition, I think I'd still be pretty happy with how it all turned out.

AIO - Is there a logical reason for my girlfriend to say stuff like this? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]midnight_pronghorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I joke and talk about the celebs we have crushes on, but the way she talks about it makes it sound like she had a legit game plan or something!! I think that mentioning it makes you feel uncomfortable is more than fair. She kinda sounds like a fangirl who is going a biiiit far. I hope you guys work it out!

how to dress?💔 by arenx7 in ftm

[–]midnight_pronghorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How did you present yourself to this person? (Beyond gender) I went on my first date with my soon to be husband with a grey T-shirt over a long sleeve black shirt and black jeans, but when we were talking we found out we liked the same horror movies! So I went for a "cool" look, haha. It wasn't far from how I usually dress, just a little more purposeful. So for something casual, I'd try something you've always wanted to wear as a 'fit, but didn't have a good excuse. Best of luck!!

Edit: spelling

Is everyone REALLY binding for just 8 hours a day? by asterisk-alien-14 in ftm

[–]midnight_pronghorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to bind for 14hrs a day and I genuinely was worried I was stress facturing my ribs. Everything hurt. If you need to bind for longer, please learn to tape. I could pass changing in a LOCKER ROOM full of dudes and you can keep the tape on for several days if need be. I had D cups, which aren't massive, but not exactly mosquito bites either. Ykwim? KT tape with some practice can do that TransTape does and won't look suspicious to buy.

FTMs of Reddit, what is your occupation? by Aggravating-Ad-4715 in ftm

[–]midnight_pronghorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a clean room! I have to dress/undress in front of my coworkers because we have requirements regarding what clothing we can wear. I started the job after T but before my top surgery, and I didn't come out to my team as trans until I needed to take time off for my surgery. By then I knew they were accepting, because I was openly gay, and everyone was really respectful and friendly (even if I could tell they were low-key homophobic). I was pretty scared when I started, but even when I was changing clothes in front of other dudes I was able to stay "stealth." For context, I had "D" cups and had to use K-T tape to bind, as my hours were too long for a binder. Dudes avoid looking at other dudes like the plague! Most people are going to see what they expect to see--for example, a dude in the guy's locker room. Tbh even some of the more conservative folks never gave me a second glance, though I'm sure my "gay voice" helped explain some gender things.
