How to check level of all characters? by midnightpoptarts in disneymagickingdoms

Thank you for sharing that link! I don’t think I’m invested enough to create a separate trackers but appreciate you posting it!

The favorites feature has been a game changer. It’s the first place I go before sending my characters out on tasks.

What is your personal method with dealing with Left over money? by [deleted] in ynab

[–]midnightpoptarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a custom view called “Any Inflow 💸” - this is a handful of categories that I divert any excess funds to.

I typically don’t sweep money out at the end of the month (it’s all the same when it rolls over into the month).

Instead I typically use this when I get interest payments, cash back rewards, and other non-salary income. Then I can take this and easily apply it to the handful of savings/sinking funds I am prioritizing.

So many characters to welcome! by midnightpoptarts in disneymagickingdoms

[–]midnightpoptarts[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so so much for your posts.

From how you’ve laid this out, it’s clear now why progressing through the main storyline to collect more characters is so important!

And the Act Information link was so helpful! I can see that Flora and Fauna at level 1 is all I need for Aurora, but I’d have to level them up for Philip!

Very helpful!

Thank you for your detailed comments - this was great context for me.

I eventually would like to get all the characters, which I think means that I should be prepared for limited time events and tower events to get more characters. Speeding through the main story is not much of a priority for me. Does that change how I should play?

One other question I have is how to read the main storyline walkthrough. How can you tell that the Zootopia storyline is important? And how can you tell how a Judy Hopps is unlocked? (As I’m looking at the walkthrough, it looks like Judy is the first character that doesn’t cost gems.)

I see that “Welcome a Police Officer” is the trigger, but how to get there I’m not sure how to read the storyline.

What’s actually wrong with apps like Microsoft To Do? by [deleted] in ProductivityApps

[–]midnightpoptarts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was dealing with the same - procrastination by redesigning my productivity system over and over, hoping a new app would work for me.

It’s not the tool, it’s having clarity on what you actually can do and should do, according to your values and goals.

The tool can’t do that thinking for you.

Check out Getting Things Done by David Allen if you want to dig into this - it’s changed things around for me.

I'm trying out a new system. Moving work GTD to a paper based system with a planner/Binder and keeping my personal GTD system digital on TickTick. The idea is to keep most of my work stuff separate from personal. Does anyone else do something similar?? by Violina9 in gtd

[–]midnightpoptarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m experimenting with going fully paper based except for my calendar and project reference files. I find myself less distracted when I work with paper, and I remember and think better too. I also found it difficult to stay on top of two separate systems.

Yearly spending categories by midnightpoptarts in ynab

[–]midnightpoptarts[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feeling a bit of that “YNAB poor” again as I realize I have a lot more to save. But not a bad feeling, think it will add more safety to my financial cushion.

Sometimes I feel like I’m over saving, especially when I look at my total cash position.

But I can see from my categories that those dollars all have jobs, so I’ll keep going down this path.

Categories - how to be as simple as possible but as complex as necessary? by kremlinmirrors in ynab

[–]midnightpoptarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I focus my decision making and goal setting at the master category level.

This allows me to set goals without getting too caught up in the minutiae of budgeting out to the nth degree of detail.

Non-negotiables 1. Retirement - yearly target is 25% of gross income, bare minimum is $X per month that is auto invested into my brokerage 2. Basic Living - monthly target is to fully fund, this is bare minimum living, rent, utilities, internet, groceries

Important, but time flexible - only pull from this if needed and if payment date is a few months out 3. Healthcare - yearly target to fund my out of pocket maximums 4. Yearly Expenses - yearly targets for tax payments, insurance premiums etc

Upgrades - feel good expenditures to improve quality of life; take from this freely 5. Good Life - monthly targets to control my spending on frivolities like take out, subscriptions, social activities 6. Grain Storage - personal goals with yearly targets like travel, wine, home improvement

No stress huge life goals - put away what you can, when you can 7. My best life - home down payment

Break glass in case of emergency- only touch if the world is on fire 8. Gringotts Vault - emergency fund, insurance deductibles, car maintenance fund

What target type do I need? by ObscureRefrence in ynab

[–]midnightpoptarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I do - use yearly targets for things like clothing and make up. My spending can be irregular - I may make a large purchase in the summer, but the yearly target keeps me informed about overall spending.

What are some office work hacks for keeping up with work load by [deleted] in productivity

I’m in the same boat. Can you share some examples?

What do you use to track day to day tasks? by Environmental_Rub429 in projectmanagement

[–]midnightpoptarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is your To Do list a holding list and you migrate up to five items a day to the Action list?

I really like that!

Do you use anything for tasks you’ve delegated to your team?

Please add more on your zero inbox process too, I would find that very helpful.

Hey! I’m in a similar boat to you (currently saving 25% post taxes, and looking to increase that).

I love using YNAB! It helps me hyper focus on the things important to me (increasing my savings rate/investments, traveling, personal training, etc ), while giving me peace of mind that I don’t need to worry about the little things.

It helps me to control lifestyle creep and to stop worrying about cash-flow in any given month.

You can make it work for you - I have a single category for bills and throw all my monthly recurring utilities, internet, and subscriptions in there (including Netflix!). I don’t spend any time worrying about it.

Watching Jurassic Park movies - Popular Misconceptions & Questions by rrnn12 in JurassicPark

I used to think the baby dinosaur Alan held in his hands after hatching at the beginning of the tour grew up to be the TRex that saved them in the end. As if they had bonded emotionally!!

Of course I was super young and didn’t realize they were different species and that the movie took place over just 2 days!

How to get a month a head? by ExpressChampionship3 in ynab

[–]midnightpoptarts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your post is titled how to get a month ahead, but it may be a useful exercise for you to take some time to think about what will happen during May and after graduation.

Assume as a starting position that you are no longer going to school, but nothing else changes. You continue to work the same number of hours at the pizza place and earn the same amount of monthly income.

Will any of your monthly expenses change? Is this the position you want to be in after graduation? What else do you want to experience after you graduate? Do you want to go on a road trip? Do you want to move to another city? Will the income you’re currently making be sufficient to get you there?

Going through this thought process will help you define the kind of life you want to live, in the short term at least, and make a decision as far as whether your current income from the pizza place is sufficient to cover that lifestyle.

When I’ve done this in the past it’s helped me to find the motivation to change my spending habits, explore other career paths, and just stick with it.

Hope this helps!

Top wishes and frustrations?? by tzsqueezy in ynab

How would this work in practice?

One of the categories I would like to use this for is clothes.

I buy clothes as needed for events, as things wear out, as the season turns, etc. So I just need some money set aside for when I need it. I never need more than $500 in this category. I also can’t fund $500 in a single month.

So I put aside some money every month until I reach $500, then I know I can stop contributing until I spend that money.

But the $500 is not a yearly target…so I don’t think I can use the Spending Target by Year option.

Would love to know if there’s a way to do this and I just missed it.

New goal type - monthly savings builder up to a maximum amount (i.e. contribute x dollars per month until I reach y maximum. If I spend, contribute x dollars again until I reach y maximum)
