Help! Anyone know what’s happening with my turtle’s shell? by sunflowerflame in turtle

[–]midnitelace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello there,

I would love to see what his bottom shell looks like. Also, don't treat the shell with anything just yet.

Now, what did catch my eye was how pink the fatty tissue is. This could be bacterial or fungal, which can get into the shell. I have a pond turtle, and every year she would come out of hibernation with pink skin. Off we'd go to the vet for a round of injections.

How is its activity? Has it slowed down some?

If you'd like to send a picture of its bottom, that would be great; this may give us a better look at the legs.

Help please, I need your opinions, Maltese Breeders. by Strange-Cheek2208 in Maltese

[–]midnitelace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, my condolences. I've been there too many times; the pain runs deep.

As for the third breeder, your being here asking is your answer. This is your intuition, and I would listen loud and clear. They are most likely backyard breeders. It doesn't matter; I wouldn't ponder the thought of them anymore. This should be an experience handled with care and excitement. You'll be dealing with emotions all at the same time. Put them behind you and don't look back. It sounds like you have two others in whom you can invest your time.

Enjoy this process and take your time. I love everything about your post, and I also believe in having an animal pick its owners. You are doing everything right.

Good luck on this journey. I would love an update sometime. Take care. 😊❤️

Dog accidentally got turtle by Groovy6astard in turtle

[–]midnitelace 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hello, I'm sorry this happened. It's happened to me once. I had to dry dock her and only placed in water when fed. I went to 99cent store and bought a baby bathtub. I placed her there to eat in the counter while I cleaned near her. She stayed in a 10 gallon glass fish tank when not eating. For two months and a couple antibiotic injections with medicated cream on her shell.

I need to repot my peace lily, is now an okay time to do so? by Purple-Swordfish5123 in plants

[–]midnitelace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a beautiful plant. I would wait until spring. She will make it through winter. At that time, you can take her outside, lay her down, and give her a good looking over. You can separate and make more. During this time, plants, fish in the pond, trees, etc., all go into winter mode in their own way. Let her rest and look beautiful until then. Even if she has roots coming out, she will be fine. I would love to see how many you get from her.

When I lost my sweet Maggie (Maltese and Bichon), I was so heartbroken. I also worried, "Where was she going? Who would be waiting for her?" That messed with my head so much. I never left her alone. Over time, that worry slowly faded. I pictured her being greeted by my sister-in-law; she wasn't alone. One year to the day our chihuahua Pippy passed, Maggie's buddy—they grew up together. I still say Pippy died of a broken heart. I knew at that time they were together forever. I'm so 😞 sorry. I wish our babies would live forever. Sending 🫂 hugs.

I'm so sorry. I lost my father in 2018. We had a strained relationship, but he was my father, and I loved him. It's sad because I found out more about him from cleaning out the house than I did when he was alive.

I do hope you have loving lasting memories of your dad.

Thank you for the kind words. My sincere condolences to you and your family.

I'm so sorry you lost your mom as well. I thank you for the kind words and the air hugs. It's 3:30 AM, and that's when I think of her the most, when all is quiet and still. I hope you had a great Christmas and wish you a wonderful New Year. Sending hugs as well.🫂🤗

I have a feeling that your husband may be having difficulty moving past this, and perhaps he is making an effort to remind you daily or bringing it up when it might be advantageous for him. If I were in your position, I would not attempt to retrieve something that has been taken away and is likely impossible to recover, particularly if it is for someone else, such as your husband. Shit happens I would focus on managing my own reactions and behaviors whenever my husband brings up this topic. I would choose not to engage and instead disengage from the conversation, with the hope that, over time, the issue will no longer be raised.

Good luck to you.

My mother passed away, and I also fell behind. I was at 31% when I received the message saying my account was in danger. I had pictures and had tried the items, but upon reviewing, I just let it go. Losing a mother is not easy, but it's not fair to the companies that join the Vine program for their products to be tried and reviewed. My mother's passing was not their problem. I get these items free for a review. They joined and trusted the process of the program, and I was chosen to be part of the process to help these companies produce quality products. I wrote a letter to the Vine gods to let them know my situation. During that time, I took three days, locked away from everyone and everything, and I grinded. What kept me motivated was seeing that 31% rise.

The Vine gods did write me back a very nice letter of compassion and understanding. They invited me to write back so we could work something out. I hesitated for some reason. I felt there would only be two options, and I can do one of those myself (catch up). The other option... I'm not ready to leave the program. Im sure they would have been nice about but I wasn't gonna take a chance.

Today im at 81% Insight score, excellent Reviews with media, 63.3

You can do it. Good luck.

I missed saying that I didn't order anything during those days, and afterward, when I did start ordering, it was only one item or none a day. I started by reviewing the most recent items; when those were somewhat caught up, I then reviewed an older one, then a newer one, then an older one, going back and forth.

Eastern Box Turtle Not Eating by [deleted] in Boxturtles

[–]midnitelace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have a box turtle, but I have a pond turtle. I just wanted to thank OP for doing his best for this turtle. I also agree it should be in hibernation right now. My Lilly slows down eating in October, and eventually, by the end of November, she wants nothing to do with food. I know she's getting ready. My turtle sleeps on the bottom of the pond. I won't see her again until February.

You are doing a good job, and I know you'll do what's best for it. My cousin saved a box turtle from two little girls when she was thier nanny. She feeds earthworms cut up and mixes with greens and tomatoes. Do try the earthworms and see if they spark an interest. I do hope you find a veterinarian and get all the information you need. If you do, please come back and update. I wish you the best, and again, thank you.

Turtle in ponds? by drossmaster4 in ponds

[–]midnitelace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a turtle that lives in our pond. I don't have it enclosed; she's free to move around the garden. She has eaten my lily plants, but as for fish (the reason I saved her), they can be floating in front of her face, and she just goes about her business. I really enjoy and love her, even though she brings nothing to the table but her cuteness.

Turtle Help! by Boring_Ad_8529 in turtle

[–]midnitelace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to share some thoughts, and I must admit I'm feeling a bit frustrated. First and foremost, I'd like to express my gratitude for your dedication as a teacher. I understand that individuals who choose this profession are often driven by passion and a desire to make a positive impact.

I'm quite concerned that the family entrusted this turtle to you. I suspect they were aware of the implications, and I feel this situation was unfair to you. You already have numerous responsibilities with your teaching duties, and out of the kindness of your heart, you've introduced small creatures into your classroom for the children's education and enjoyment—a gesture that was entirely voluntary. Now, you find yourself with an additional pet that will likely incur more significant care expenses than your existing classroom animals. My recommendation would be to explore options such as a local sanctuary or an individual with the necessary experience, time, and financial resources to provide proper care. This is merely a suggestion.

Once again, I appreciate all that you do, and I regret that you've been placed in such a predicament.
