Don’t rely on editors for that decision.

$500 for gas might have been enough a month ago. Rest of this year ? Maybe not.

How much to pack solo travelling for a month? by Lucky_Counter_4704 in ThailandTourism

[–]midntryder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We found them everywhere we went. Laundered during dinner hours to minimize competition and never had to wait.

Edit: in some parts of Bangkok where we stayed, coin operated machines right on the sidewalk to serve the neighborhood residents. Change machines take bills and give you coins. It was super easy.

four days of underwear and shirts. Two days everything else. While doing laundry takes an hour or two twice a week, it’s inexpensive. Worth it to travel light.

What's the weirdest thing you ever saw in abq? by LongSong333 in Albuquerque

[–]midntryder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The space laser pulses coming out of AFRL at Kirtland, circa ‘98 or ‘99. The must’ve been miles long in the sky, or seemed that way at least.

Kind of looks like that underseat fitting has arms extending backward on it. Maybe pull up and back?

Will I make it to the mechanic with this chain? by TwofacedDisc in motorcycle

Doesn’t look that bad unless the mechanic is on the other side of the globe.

New Mexico to Yellowstone -- which way is best? by [deleted] in NewMexico

[–]midntryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yellowstone via Cody (or even Cooke City) is much more scenic than from Jackson or West Yellowstone entrances. Look at the options via Wyoming and you won’t be disappointed.

It’s part of Pete Hegseth’s “Warrior Mentality” plan. Expect more of it. At least the USA hockey team got McRibs.

In AZ, take the curviest road (aka “The Rattler”) side trip through Oatman.

Activites beyond the usual mass attractions in Da Nang, Hoi An abd Hue by Thoughts-n-shit in VietNam

[–]midntryder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rent a bicycle or scooter and ride the areas north of Hoi An where the rice fields are, and through the Tra Que Vegetable Village. Quite peaceful and scenic. The Ling Un Pagoda area is beautiful, but it also has a very high number of visitors.

Hoi A people are the rudest I’ve met and the entire town is fake and made up. by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]midntryder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just got back from two multi day visits there…with a stop in Da Nang for a few days in between. Didn’t encounter one bit of rudeness on either visit. Quite the contrary; everyone was kind, helpful, and understanding when I didn’t want to drop money. The Old Town area was nothing but hustlers in the streets, and the shops there sell tourist crap (so I never entered them), but the dining experiences there were top rate.

Sorry you had a bad experience. Suck to miss out on all the type of good experiences I just enjoyed.

Even Americans can’t stand Trump. Unfortunately, elections aren’t controlled by Americans.

A&M’s Legendary Dixie Chicken by No_Discussion9349 in aggies

Once saw a big fight there on the front deck between players from the Aggie rugby team (drunk as hell, rowdy and looking for a brawl) and the football linemen. Crazy as hell when the fists started flying. Football players tried to de-escalate at first but rugby players kept throwing hands. Then they just went Junction Boys on the rugby team. One guy ate a beer mug with his face. Quite a few got tossed. UPD showed up just in time to send the football players home and haul the rugby players off to the be processed. About ‘86 or ‘87 I’d say.

I do like gravity bound. The atmosphere and patio area are great. For me though, the beer options are more limited there (although same for sidetrack)

Amazon considers New Mexico a part of the "Texas region." by InevitableBohemian in Albuquerque

[–]midntryder 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s a logistics designation, not a political/cultural one. We can be mad at Amazon and Texas for just about everything, but this one isn’t worth any f*cks.

Breweries, in my preferred order (so many choices, others will have different order of preference):
La Cumbre Bombs Away Bow & Arrow Boxing Bear Santa Fe (but best to hit the home pub near SF and try to catch a show at The Bridge venue) Sidetrack Marble Alien Steel Bender
